4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Full disclosure - this is a personal favourite. I am thrilled any time I find this on cask. A delicious hoppy real ale, tastes like it has about the same IBU as their ubiquitous Hop Addict. Hint of rye flavour in the malt - but I could be imagining that. Cask really brings out the best in this one, and the reasonable ABV makes it quite sessionable. I wish places like Victory/Barhop/Harbord had this more often.
Cask at bar hop 2. The body is brown, with a small white head. The aroma is very sweet with chocolate and cherry. The taste is good, it’s with a lot of cacao and has a sweet finish. TheJester (2542) - Cavan Monaghan, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 13, 2013
Cask at Volo. I wish I didn’t have to go to Toronto to get their beers. Chocolate, roast and some Brit hops in the nose. The chocolate and roast don’t show up as much in the flavour, but the hops are nice. traditional British amber. Really nice, drinkable beer. Did I mention that it would be great if I could find their beers locally? neuromatt (1225) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 22, 2013
On Cask at the Queen and Beaver in Toronto, served in an English pint. Pours clear copper with a tall, fluffy creamy head that remains. On the nose are English caramel hops, with notes of bread and grains. These are paired with delicate English hops. The flavour is initially balanced between moderate sweetness and moderate bitterness, but a resinous hoppy bitterness grows towards the end and peaks in the finish, which is moderate in length. On the palate, it is medium in body with a smooth, creamy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a nice English style ale. It is subtle and elegant, though it could be a tad hoppier. 2012-08-01 SlovakSniper (5561) - Candiac, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 29, 2012

Has a really coffee-like smells. Pours with no head, no lacing. Very soft carbonation - almost nothing. Ruby colour. The coffee bitter lasts a little into the taste. There’s some sugary cane sweetness too. On tap at Volos.herrbrown1974 (427) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 17, 2012

A lot of sediment, big chunks of dead yeast. A deep cloudy red colour. Pours with alright suds and lacing. Smells a little oaky and a little smoky. Taste follows through a little bit sour, kind of lagery. I think the whole glory of this one is that it’s on cask - not sure how it would hold up on tap but the cask gives it some character. Had pint at The Rhino.
On cask. Orange brown with a ton of sediment, sticky cream head. Aroma is a little boozy, wood, earthy, bourbon, butterscotch, vanilla. Slightly peaty and rotten fruit. Mouthfeel is light. Not a lot of the complexity in the aroma carries through. Bitter throughout. I was excited when I gave it a sniff, disappointed by the lack of complexity through the flavour. Still, a unique brew. scantron (63) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 6, 2012
April 28, 2012; Cask at Victory Cafe
Intense aroma; lots of volatiles in this one. Strong flavour of orange, apricot and stone fruit, light pine. Eventually gives way to some roasty chocolates. Pours a dark mahogany with a 1 cm white head. No visible carbonation. Tastes of an interesting mix between an amber ale and a pale ale. Caramel malts are obvious with some vanilla in there. Taste moves towards citrusy and piney hops. Overall, the hops are fairly clean and not overwhelming. Tasty! Light body, almost watery. Little to no carbonation, which isn’t too unusual for cask. Light herbal hop finish. Environment was great and this was a tasty compliment. Liked the mix of flavours, which was a surprise. Interesting brew.

I tried this beer on tap on March 9, 2012 at "C’est What" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It pours a translucent dark red with a whitish ring for a head. Aroma is roasted malt, caramel, light fruits, and weak hops. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavour is mily sweet with caramel and light fruit and a weak bitter finish ends it.
Bar Volo cask. A little sour, great aroma, but its butterscotch. A little red colour.
