COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This striking and original beer is surprisingly easy to quaff. Three grades of crystal malt make a ruby/tawny colour and a body of dark toffee and a delicate finish of liquorice and ornage. Food match: Lamb kofta.

Hmm. I know Durham put warnings on the bottle about liveliness, but this is the second time one of theirs has exploded and I’ve lost nearly half of it. A shame as it smelled lovely, though it quickly faded. Colour is between dark orange and woody brown, it’s a bit murky, with a small covering of off-white head. Light body. Not sure about the taste - there is a touch of orange over what is essentially an English bitter, and there is a slightly unpleasant tang to the aftertaste.

Bottle from Whistlestop Wines in Saltburn. Opened with one hell of a gush. Annoying as i lost about half the bottle, but probably my fault as I’d not given it long since cycling home with it. The taste is fruity with pear drop notes. Rich with full mouth feel. Some liquorice and light spice in there too. Nice. Shame I didn’t get a full pint!

500ml. bottle-conditioned bbe Sept 2016. Bottle gushed upon opening, a fault I have experienced before from Durham. Poured very hazy reddish-brown, thick head. Taste raspberry. High carboation gives thin mouthfeel. Overall: I don’t know what a fault-free sample would taste like. If this is how Durham intend it to be, its awful.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. This is a hazy dark brown-red coloured beer with a rich malty and red fruity flavour, sharp citrus notes and a pine and malty-chocolate finish. Very nice.
