Bottle. Pours an amber without any head. Lightly carbonated. Malts predominate on the nose. That continues onto the palate, but could use more hops for balance. Slightly bitter throughout. Thanks Blankboy for the bottle. JohnBarleycorn (537) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 28, 2005
Looks like a sunburst of orange and red. Aromas of rain water, raspberry
and caramel, plus a good balance of malt and hops. Smooth palate leads to a
semi-chalky texture. A nice, well-balanced, fruity ale.

cask. Volo. hazy copper body with a small soapy white head. aroma consists of mild fruit and floral hops with nut and caramel overtones. body is flavourful - sweet cereal grains, creamy with a good hop bite that leaves a nice lasting impression. sweet sticky finish. Enjoyed thoroughly. Lubiere (14127) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 23, 2005
Hazed golden ale with a thick creamy lacing white head. Light malts and sweet aroma. In mouth, very light in body, short malt and very short British hops. Dissapears quickly with just residual bitterness. A watered down version of a good beer which i tasted a few years back, before RB. Miguel (1181) - Saint-Ours, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 11, 2005
Robe rousse. Saveurs de caramel. Très douce. Houblon de soutien. Arrière goût très court...

On cask at BarVolo. Clear yellow with a small frothy white head. Body is flat but it’s to be expected as it’s on cask. Sweet aroma of light hops is nice but barely present hence the low score. Nicely balanced flavour of sweet malts and light hops is very smooth and delicious. A great summer beer. HogTownHarry (7062) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - JUL 16, 2005
UPDATED: AUG 24, 2005 Draught (cask) at Volo. Slightly cloudy deep gold, average creamy white head, average lacing. Lots going on to my nose - oak, soap, dry malt, weak hops, dry straw. Surprise is in the flavour - incredibly smooth, complex and venerable - various wood/forest notes, musty/mushroomy, and an overall balance between medium bitterness and malt. Light to medium bodied, soft on the mouth, oaky and slightly bitter to finish. AcctError11232 (501) - Ontario, CANADA - MAR 4, 2005
UPDATED: MAR 10, 2005 A really nice surpirse.
Dark/golden ale with a sweet, floral and malt aroma. Really mouthwatering. The taste doesn’t disappoint. A few citrus notes mixed in with a nice dose of hops. Great aftertaste - some bitterness and very refreshing. Already stocked up - that’s how much I ike this ale.
This ale is going to be a standard choice of mine. JadoreBlanche (114) - London, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 25, 2005
