COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Permanent.
The name comes from the predominant hop. Amarillo is a light and floral American hop. On its own it makes a beer that has similar qualities to a light white wine. The addition of Goldings hops add a little more spice. The result is a deliciously fragrant light session beer. Amarillo and Goldings hops.

Cask (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Real Ale Festival 2006) Aroma is hoppy bitterness, maybe a bit citrusy. Perhaps a bit watery in the mouth, yes there’s a bunch of hops, but not very interesting.

UPDATED: JAN 9, 2012 Cask at The Flowerpot, Derby, 08-09-07 Poured light golden with a light, fresh, zesty aroma. A zippy, pithy, fresh beer that was slightly dry in the taste. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov15 3.7 Had this again on Cask, handpump at the Cask & Kitchen, Pimlico, London 07.01.12 in company of Loz, Lynn, Barry, Nick & Anna Pours light gold with a white head. I found this a little thin and not really what I would expect from Durham, thugh to be fair having been drinking at Kernel and Brewdog today maybe this was being a little unfairly judged along such hoppy beasts? However I found that this really lacked a distinct hoppiness and bitternes, it was fresh and the finish was dry but the midle was rather plodding and therefore I had to re-rate and alter my opinion of this. [Cask from The Three Judges] Aroma dusty yeast, floral, grapefruit, slightly. Light body, spicey notes, dry, fruity.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 31 July) Colour is golden yellow with green tinges, small head. Nose is fruity with lemon and grassy hops, a bit closed. Taste is fruity and hoppy with notes of lemon, but mainly with a long bitter finish with a nice grassy hop character and nutty notes. Light to medium body and rather dry. Very nice finish. Grows on you.

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2007 An intresting beer. Aroma is reasonably hopy, however a bit minimal. Taste is A mix of some sort of caramel malt, with corriander and peppered makrel, and some grassy hops in there too, dont worry theres no fish but it just reminds me of it. Rerate: 3 judges again. Far better condition, citrusy and floural as you should expect from this hop.

sayravai (4710) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JAN 20, 2006
([email protected] Bird, Espoo) Slightly hazy, paleish golden color with a very small, lacy head. Mildly Amarillo-hoppy aroma with some lemony character. Lemony-fruity, moderately hoppy flavor with a mellow, dryish finish. Light to medium-bodied, low-carbonated palate. A basic, somewhat hoppy ale. Nothing to remember, though.

Cask (handpulled) at Flowerpot, Derby. Disappointed with this, I usually love a Durham brew and the Flowerpot has them well represented. Quite a slight brew, citric twists seemed to melt away and leave little to savour.
