The name comes from the predominant hop. Amarillo is a light and floral American hop. On its own it makes a beer that has similar qualities to a light white wine. The addition of Goldings hops add a little more spice. The result is a deliciously fragrant light session beer. Amarillo and Goldings hops.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 31 July) Colour is golden yellow with green tinges, small head. Nose is fruity with lemon and grassy hops, a bit closed. Taste is fruity and hoppy with notes of lemon, but mainly with a long bitter finish with a nice grassy hop character and nutty notes. Light to medium body and rather dry. Very nice finish. Grows on you.

Cask at ORB micropub, Darlington. Pale golden colour, white foam head leaving lacing and grainy hoppy aroma. Taste is pale malty, grains, some biscuit with tangy citric earthy hop bitterness. Light bodied, soft carbonation, dry bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Cask at the Waterloo tap. A clear pale golden coloured pour with a lasting G fine white head. Aroma is rustic grains, damp hay, straw, little horsey, grassy hop. Flavour is composed of earthy grains, straw, grassy hedgerow hop,, faint eggy yeast character. Palate is semi sweet, grainy, ok cask condition, little watery. Ok cask gold.

Leighton (22820) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 28, 2017
Cask at Waterloo Tap - London. Pours clear yellow-gold with a frothy, white head. The nose holds white bread, pale grains, hay, lemon peel. Lightly sweet flavour with further lemony hops, straw, some butter husky grains. Light bodied with fine carbonation; decent condition. Finishes with some dirty hay, more pale grains, husk, faint grass, bread crust. A very decent cask golde.

berkshirejohn (6771) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - JUL 29, 2016
Cask at the Maidenhead Beer Festival, July 2016. A straw coloured pour with a ring of white head; aroma of honey and ripe harvest grains; then a light dry floral taste; with a mouth watering finish. Very elegant and refined.

allmyvinyl (11208) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUN 8, 2015
4.1 Cask at the avenue, Sunderland. Pours pale gold with a thin white head. Aromas of light vinegar, lemon juice. Taste is better, light cereal, citrus, pine. Dry, chalky finish.

Hippoman (646) - Durham, ENGLAND - APR 29, 2015
Cask from The John Duck, Durham, £2.50/pint I’m a sucker for anything with Amarillo hops but found this very pale interpretation to be let down slightly by its thin palate and aggressive bitterness overcompensating for its citrus lightness. Still plenty of positives, aroma is particularly enticing and a fine summer beer.

ManVsBeer (11205) - Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - AUG 4, 2014
Cask @ The Works, Sowerby Bridge. Golden with a creamy head. Has a crisp and thin fruitiness with a small hoppiness evident. More stated in its nose than taste.

Tom303 (147) - Northumberland, ENGLAND - JUL 25, 2014
Pours golden nice tight creamy head. Aroma sweet malt and slight fruit hop thing. Taste ti follow sweet base with a nice bitter balance light and refreshing, another full flavoured lighter beer from excellent brewery.

SaintMatty (7612) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - MAR 13, 2014
Cask (Fitzgerald’s, Sunderland) - Pale golden in colour. Grapefruit, peach and passion fruit in the aroma. Tangy and hoppy taste with notes of grapefruit, passion fruit and lemon standing out.

Oakes (19426) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 24, 2014
Fresh amarillo nose, slightly biscuity, light earthy hop character. Good balance, though I might prefer a bit more brightness.
