COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
White Stout is the ultimate beer in our "White Range". While the word "stout" has come to mean a dark beer, the original meaning was strong and true. Before the porter brewers commandeered the word to mean a stout, or strong, porter it referred to any strong beer. We have rehabilitated and improved the genre. White Stout is a very pale, full bodied, strong beer. American columbus hops are used throughout to give massive floral and resinous character. At a strength of 7.2% this is a true stout. Indeed, few modern stouts of any colour are true to the word for strong.

At Hoppy Loft Brussels, with S&G Tasting group, first day trip. APPEARANCE: clear blond beer, small unstable white head. NOSE: hoppy, fresh, fruity. TASTE: hoppy, fresh, though some bitterness from coffee taste. Historical moment: finished first book with written ratings, present that day: Mathieu, Lisa, Chris, Christian aka Quinten and Leen!

On cask at Cloisters. Pours a blonde colour with a thick white head. Reminds me more of a barley wine. Aroma of oatmeal, alcohol and caramel. Similar flavours with some roasty malt, apple seed and caramel. Quite bitter and dry with mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Tasty!

Brandman (2967) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JAN 22, 2014
Clear golden body white head. Aroma has resiny hops, grainy bready malt, quite mellow fruitiness. Flavour is bit toasted or roasted but just lightly. Also has quite intense and pungent bitterness. Some alcohol feeling, not flavour. Harsh and dry aftertaste. Yeast somes through hard way. Bit unpleasant. This is not bad, more like imperial golden ale than any other. The bitterness is remarkable high.

Odd but not half bad...big biscuity and toasty malts with a light roast. The nose is lightly hopped, malted with light grainy and biscuity malts, a bit of spice. Really unusual English strong ale...light a barley wine without the toffee and roast. Light bitterness on the finish. Overall a really good unusual brew.

Bottle shared at ChrisO’s Pre-GBBF Shindog. Hazy amber, medium white head. Nose is grain, citric acidic, taste is bitter, sour, acidic. Strong alcoholic. Not sure what this is trying to be or what it is. Will retry at GBBF.
