On tap @ Capitol Beer. Listed as Barrel Aged Black Blizzard. Black in color with a thick tan head. A whole lot of roasted malt, ash, and charred oak. There’s one decent bourbon flavor, but it’s more ashy than anything. Kind of a graham cracker sweetness to it, maybe some spice, and whiskey. Has a good bit of dark chocolate and some coffee grounds to the finish. Slightly thin and astringent on the back of the tongue. bhensonb (15499) - Woodland, California, USA - FEB 27, 2016
Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark blk/brn with a large tan head. Aroma is chocolate bourbon. Full bodied. Flavor is chocolate, bourbon, then burnt malt (smooth), then earthy chocolate. I think coffee is eclipsed by the bourbon. Which isn’t super strong. Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours black with a dark tan head. Bourbon aroma. med + or full bodied. Flavor is very bourbon/vanilla with dark malt, and I think coffee. Maybe chocolate. Smooth. Think there’s no heat. Oak comes along after awhile. It’s malty, but not seemingly undry. Very nice.
