Hops: Saaz, Styrian Golding and Sorachi Ace. "Dry Hopped with Sorachi Ace. 2013 Selection"

UPDATED: MAY 13, 2016 0.33 l bottle from ’Mitra’ (Beukenweg, Amsterdam) as part of the tasting box, best before August 2017. Clear, pale straw yellow with a greenish touch and a massive, fluffy, stable, white head. Fruity-grassy, floral and slightly herbal aroma of lychee, ginger, lime and grapefruit. Slightly bitter, fruity-grassy, quite floral and a bit herbal taste of lime, lychee, ginger, lemongrass, grapefruit and fresh grass, followed by medium long, quite bitter, dry, grassy, a little yeasty and somewhat alcoholic finish. Medium to full (!) body, effervescent mouthfeel, lively carbonation. Very good again, maybe the roundest version I’ve had recently. Seems to have a fuller body somehow as well. Overall the best version in my opinion.

Blind-rated as part of saveur biers tasting pack. Nearly clear golden, light sparkling, 2 finger white dense and long head, well-covering sticky lacing. Looks great. Mild fresh aroma has bit mixed citrus, mild flowery notes, herbs. Flavor has blackcurrant, lychee, crisp feel, light, long dry finishis bit sour and mildly bitter, bit grass. Light, fresh and tasty.

Aroma:
Medium/heavy aroma of malts, Belgian yeast, flowers, hops and citrus.

Appearance:
Hazy yellow/golden beer with a medium/large white head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium/heavy sweet with malts, Belgian yeast and flowers; ends slightly bitter and dry with hops and citrus.

Overall:
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. The Duvel, with its tons of sweet Belgian yeast, and the Sorachi Ace, with its dry and citrus flavour, work so great together. Actually manages to be a perfect balance between these two, which is great if you imagine how strong the yeast is in a regular Duvel.

Bottle from Booths, Media City. Lightly hazed golden coloured ale with a head. Hopped and strong tasting with a sugary fruitiness in both aroma and taste.

Dourada, ligeiramente turva.

Well, Duvel is one of my favorites so trying this was a no brainer. It definitely grew on me as I drank it. At first it seemed a little weak on malt but by the end it tasted fine. Now I need to get an original Duvel to compare it.
