Duvel Tripel Hop is brewed with three hop varieties and each year the third hop is changed to provide its own unique taste and aroma. This keeps the final flavor profile surprisingly exciting for any true beer lover. For 2016 our brewers selected HBC 291 from the Yakima Valley in the USA.

By using three instead of two hop varieties to brew, we obtain additional hop aromas and an increased bitterness. The typical Duvel palate is enriched with HBC 291 hops providing fresh notes of citrus, black pepper, lavender and roses.

HBC 291 hops are added again during ’dry-hopping’, extracting additional hop aromas into the beer. The higher aromatic intensity rounds out the beer, backing the final alcohol content of 9.5%.

A: Pours light straw with a big white head, medium bubbles. N: Lemon curd, some floral touches. T: Full bodied, dry bitterness, slight lemony notes, F: Dry and mildly bitter O: Although I am still not convinced about a highly hopped Belgian, this is pretty decent.

Luneylane (174) - Taipei City, TAIWAN - JUN 21, 2017
A bottle from Muzha Jason’s, drunk at home. Aroma: bread and hay. Appearance: hazy, light amber, pours a mountainous rocky head. Palate: full-bodied and sticky, average carbonation. Long and complex, astringent finish. Taste: heavily bitter, pepper from the alcohol. Well-crafted and packs a punch, but I prefer the regular Duvel, need a little more sweetness.

ChewyBeer (371) - SOUTH AFRICA - JUN 15, 2017
Appearance: slightly hazy straw. Great fluffy white head Aroma: light citrus, peppery, cut grass. Light clove Palate: medium mouthfeel, high carbonation Taste: citrus dominant. Peppery, spicy. Clean bitterness with warm alcohol and lingering lemon

Echon (535) - Århus, DENMARK - JUN 11, 2017
Pale straw. Spicy and fruity aroma with mild hops. Strong, lightly sweet and acidic taste, with a spicy and fruity flavour. Boozy. Highly bitter, warming finish. Medium body. Overall, a decent strong ale. I find this one too dry and boozy. Urthel Hop-it is similar, and more balanced.

PowY (699) - AUSTRIA - APR 27, 2017
330 ml bottle. Clear golden with a large, frothy white head. Aroma of grassy, herbal hops, also flowers and perfume, lightly vinous. Medium to full body with a lively carbonation, a light to medium sweetness and a medium bitterness. The alcohol is pretty well hidden. Fruity flavor of grapes, peach, grapefruits and some sweet maltiness with some caramel, honey and lightly alcoholic note in the aftertaste. Quite fresh and surprisingly drinkable and a nice beer.

hohops (983) - Kent, ENGLAND - APR 24, 2017
Appearance- classic Duvel golden, lots of bubbles, an enormous clingy pillowy white head. Aroma- spices, grassy hops, floral notes, creamy malt traces, caramel. Taste- creamy malt, spices, apple, orange peel, hops, coriander traces, cut grass hints, creamy full mouthfeel. Very sweet, almost golden syrup-like. Hop bitterness on the end, reasonably rich.
