COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The festive season just wouldn’t be the same without this speciality beer whose arrival is always long-awaited. The tradition of Christmas beers is particular to northern Europe. In the years following the Second World War, the breweries used to sell an original, richer and stronger beer at the same price as year-round beers: this was their gift to their customers. The Duycks have perpetuated this custom by creating a special beer sold at the usual price. Produced with more malt than Jenlain Ambrée (3 different types of malt made from French grown barley and 3 varieties of the most aromatic hops from Alsace), this top fermented, unpasteurized beer, best served at between 6 and 8°C, has a rich amber glow, a denser head and stronger alcohol content (6.8% alcohol by volume). Darker than the traditional amber beer, its torrefied undertones are reminiscent of flowers and caramel. And the 2002 Christmas beer had a hint of orange.

thewolf (12735) - Kolding, DENMARK - DEC 10, 2007
Bottle, bought @ Kolding Vinhandel.
[Vintage 2006]
Pours a rather clear coppery with a nice, but small creamy white head that rather quickly turns to a staying thin film. Aroma is a little mouldy, lidt biscuity maltiness and a good dose of spicy hoppiness. Dry mouthfeel, perhaps a touch on the thin side. Flavour is dominated by lightly roasted caramel, some oakiness and a well-balanced spiciness.

just a very good balanced taste profile beverage that worked for my friend and I for supper. Orange taste was apparent and not over the top. A nice biere de garde, moderated spicey taste overall , some citrus, not too bitter nor sweet perhaps it was aged some.

Pinball (12213) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JAN 11, 2009
bottle 75cl, thanks faroeviking. this bottle best before 05.10.2007, tasted 10.01.2009. pours a cloudy red amber with a large yellow/brown head that lasts but is fluffy. collapses after a minute or so. aroma of aged beer, well balanced flavors, christmas spices, caramel, slight fruityness. flavor is spicy, caramelly, sweet, sawdust, honey. i can taste the aging has done some damage, but mainly to the palate, and it has added some cellary notes.

Bottle - 750ml. Light musty malt aroma. Clear amber with small head. Light musty malt flavor - very light flower notes. Nice body - a bit on the weak side but good flavor. A nice Biere de Garde on the light side.

hopscotch (11180) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - FEB 25, 2007
Bottle... Clear amber ale with orange highlights and a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. Excellent, creamy retention. The aroma is of bicuity malts, vanilla and mild orange. Honey-sweet, vanilla flavor; not all that fruity. Medium-bodied with a lightly creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Sweet finish. Overall, too sweet for me.

DocLock (10970) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 31, 2006
Bottle from Super Saver. Ruby/dark copper pour with 2-finger off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts, figs, cinnamon, nutmeg. The flavor is sweet and caramel malty up front, with emerging cinnamon, figs, and cacao beans. It gets sweeter and spicier as it warms, and is a good representation of this style.
