Formerly known as Sebourg beer, this was rebaptized Saint Druon de Sebourg in 2000.
Malted barley and 3 varieties of hops grown in Alsace form the basis of this recipe, which, unlike Duyck’s other beers, also contains wheat from the Beauce region of France, milled in the traditional way by Sebourg’s miller. And to give it an even more distinctive flavour, the Duyck’s use a specific strain of yeast exclusive to the beer.
St. Druon de Sebourg is the French version of a blonde abbey ale, similar in style to those found across the nearby border in Belgium. It is spicy and effervescent, and much hoppier than typical bière de garde.

Poured a hazy yellow/orange with almost no head. Aroma is tart and fruity with some skunky notes. Some yeast also present. Taste is mostly skunky with some rice. Quite a disappointment. The finish has some fruity flavors with vegetables and sweet rice. Overall not what I was expecting, but maybe I should have aged it some more. Crisp and drinkable.

Pours a dark yellow color, nose is yeast, alcohol, and some fruity notes. Very tart flavor, alcohol really shows through even though it’s only 6%. Very smooth, light bodied, and a small amount of carbonation. Not bad but not good.

Aroma of tart apples, white grape and honey. Appearance is translucent gold with creamy white head. Flavor matches the nose with a little cherry and oak as well. Palate is bubbly. Enjoyed.

Corked bottle from Auchan, Marne La Vallee, France.
Pours a rich, deep amber sap but that’s where it ends. This beer stinks like a skunk’s ass sprayed with perfume and tastes like the rotten end of a copper monster’s poop chute. This beer sucks. Sucks all the way in every way. Don’t drink this crap.

Pretty bland. Not much in the way of flavor or aroma. Perchance you may happen upon some malt in a sunlit meadow, but verily I say to you that any thought of flavor is gone in a fleeting moment of whimsical hesitation. Sooth this is my word.

Draught at TND: Aroma of light herbs, light pale malts, slight grass, and slight yeast. Poured yellow/gold in color with a small, off-white head that lasted throughout. Clear. Sparkling. No lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of yeast, pale malts, slight honey, and slight herbs. Medium body. Tingly, lightly dry texture. Lively carbonation. Lightly sweet, herbal, yeasty finish is lightly dry.
