COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Sebourg beer, this was rebaptized Saint Druon de Sebourg in 2000.
Malted barley and 3 varieties of hops grown in Alsace form the basis of this recipe, which, unlike Duyck’s other beers, also contains wheat from the Beauce region of France, milled in the traditional way by Sebourg’s miller. And to give it an even more distinctive flavour, the Duyck’s use a specific strain of yeast exclusive to the beer.
St. Druon de Sebourg is the French version of a blonde abbey ale, similar in style to those found across the nearby border in Belgium. It is spicy and effervescent, and much hoppier than typical bière de garde.

750 ml bottle. Slightly hazy orange-kissed golden colour. Very thick sticky head. Aroma is quite earthy with a dank mustiness. Lots of basementy funky character. As it warms more sweet fruity character comes to the fore. Apricot, pear and apple along with a nice honey/caramel sweetness. Not really spicy per se, but the blend of fruit, fruit skins, and sweetness is quite compelling. A light herbal/grassy bitterness along with a white peppery bite. A bit of lemon and orange tartness as it starts to warm up. I quite like it.

Courtesy of kiefdog. This 750mL pours hazy deep gold with white head. It has soft aromatic notes of sweet light skinned fruit, some malt graininess and a sense of spice. The taste is similar with a seemingly wheat softened palate ushering up smooth sweet fruit notes like apples and pears to go along with sweet malts, a bit of graininess and subtle yeasty spices. Nice easy drinkin’ brew.

Dark gold, thin white suds. Some sesame nuttiness, metal and coriander in the nose. Quite a pleasantly dry, metallic, faintly spicy Belgian wannabe.

Misakenly rated this under Sebourg Biere de Garde Blonde on 6/3/04 due to confusion brought on by this previously being labeled as an American Wheat and the other having a picture of the same label (now since corrected) Dark yellow fading to orange hazy pour with a sticky, but thin white head. Delectable aroma of peaches and apricots. Good, thick mouthfeel with some tanginess and back end spiciness. Flavor has elements of apricots as well with a bit of coriander in the aftertaste. Goes down very smooth. Impressed.

Draft at the Seattle International Beerfest. Clear gold body with a thin white head. Nice lemon and grass nose. Well balanced attack. Lots of lemon and grass and gloral notes on the mid-palate. Nice and light. Not much finish. Hides the alcohol well.

sour nose. Yellow thinheaded with some residue. A taste like licking a (clean) kitchen table. Flat mouthfeel.

(Rating #5217)

Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain), lightly hoppy (herbs), with notes of coriander, plastic, and alcohol. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Unpleasant from start to finish...plasticky, dirty tasting, watery, blah.

Strykzone (7586) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - FEB 14, 2009
Lightly clouded gold beer with a white soapy head that leaves a good amount of lacing. Aroma is small and nondescript but offers some yeast and wheat notes. A dry bitterness is the first thing tasted. There is also some bubblegum, spice, pear, and funky earthiness. Peppery feel and that bitterness is long lasting. This style is always interesting and this beer fits right in. Unique but not a great beer.

Bottle at Mondial 2008
Appearance: Light amber with mid fizzy top.
Nose Plain light sweet front with straight malt notes. 6-.
Flavor/Palate : Sweet honey like sugars with more of generic taste. To one dimensional and sweet for style.
