COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Sebourg beer, this was rebaptized Saint Druon de Sebourg in 2000.
Malted barley and 3 varieties of hops grown in Alsace form the basis of this recipe, which, unlike Duyck’s other beers, also contains wheat from the Beauce region of France, milled in the traditional way by Sebourg’s miller. And to give it an even more distinctive flavour, the Duyck’s use a specific strain of yeast exclusive to the beer.
St. Druon de Sebourg is the French version of a blonde abbey ale, similar in style to those found across the nearby border in Belgium. It is spicy and effervescent, and much hoppier than typical bière de garde.

Misakenly rated this under Sebourg Biere de Garde Blonde on 6/3/04 due to confusion brought on by this previously being labeled as an American Wheat and the other having a picture of the same label (now since corrected) Dark yellow fading to orange hazy pour with a sticky, but thin white head. Delectable aroma of peaches and apricots. Good, thick mouthfeel with some tanginess and back end spiciness. Flavor has elements of apricots as well with a bit of coriander in the aftertaste. Goes down very smooth. Impressed.

The beer pours a beautiful dark gold with a very slight haze. This is topped off by a large, meringue-like head that lasts forever. Slightly spicy yeast aroma and stone fruits like apricot make up much of the aroma. The flavor is fairly malty and lightly sweet. Pretty tasty.

12 ounce bottle from the Beer of the Month Club, poured into a Belgian fishbowl glass. Bright yellow color, mostly clear with a wispy white head that recedes quickly. Lots of fruity esters -- apples, lemons, grapes and berries aromas give this a nice bouquet. Lemony tart taste with some yeasty bready qualities. Some grassy and hay flavors as well give this a complex flavor. Lite to medium mouthfeel, well carbonated. Nice, refreshing enjoyable beer that I thought went well in the late weekend afternoon. Would pair nicely with a tossed or caesar salad. According to BOMC, this is an example of the Biere de Garde that the northern French area is known for.

Pale hazy straw color with a short-lived creamy white head. Light bready citrus aroma. Musky grape flavor with a pleasant citrus aftertaste. Reminds me a bit of fermented corn silage, a pleasant flavor for me. Medium-light mouthfeel but with an appreciated creamy element.

A very enjoyable citric bitterness with some sweet malt to back it up makes this an enjoyable beer.

Brewtopia Summer ’04. Nice dough aroma. Poured with a puffy white head. Taste was a bit bitter with mellow caramel and yeasty flavors. The sour was like apples or pears. Finish was nice and dry.

This is a good Biere de Garde. Popped the the cork and instant aroma of pumpkin seed. Light, wheat, yeast, and fruity flavor. Finishes crisp, clean and refreshing.

(750 ml bottle from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/maine/scarborou target=blank>Oak Hill Beverage) Pours somewhat cloudy gold/bronze with two fingers of white head. Aroma of citrus/lemon, pepper, honey and yeast. Mouthfeel quite soft and light, also lightly syrupy and sticky. Lots of dabs of lacing. Flavor is sweetish and fruit and honey-like but countered with a sour yeastiness. A light pleasant pepperiness overlays. A bit citrusy as well. A nice biere de garde, so I’m not sure why the scores are so low. I enjoyed it but couldn’t quite get through the whole bottle.

Cerveja predominantemente feminina, doce, quase sem amargor, média-baixa carbonatação e bem frutada. Bom equilíbrio, final suave e limpo. É uma boa cerveja para o que se propõe.

Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this one. Clear light gold with a tall, tight white head. Lacing falls apart. A lightly spicy, funky sweet honey aroma. The flavor is lightly sweet with some dryness in the finish. Easy drinking, light bodied.
