COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Loterbol is a crisp blonde ale that is very tasty and mightily satisfying. 'Loterbol' is a Flemish word for a fool or prankster, an allusion to the deceptive smoothness and drinkability of this beer.

Sort of an average blond, decent malt and nice hops, but not much character or complexity.

330 ml bottle @ Poirotti, Helsinki. Opaque, murky yellow color, creamy white head. Bright hoppy flavor, noticable alcohol, chalky finish. Sharp mouthfeel, high carbonation. Not really to my taste.

On draft at the Het Haasken pub in Diest (menu confirms that it is the 6, aka the one with 6.8 percent abv). Frankly it’s one of the better blondes I’ve had in Belgium, thanks to a fair amount of bitterness, restrained sweetness, and the lack of over-spicing. Pours a clearish gold with lacey, white head into an Achouffe-type tulip glass. Sweetish aroma with grassy notes. Light sweetness rolls into a clean bitterness that lasts into the aftertaste. Excessive carbonation is less of a liability once the beer warms. In the end, it just tastes pretty good because it doesn’t play around with BS.

Pours a clouded straw gold with a minimal head. Nose is caramlized sugar with tight yeast. Flavor is slightly floral with a leafy overall edge to it. A slight alcohol presence is on the end. Feel is good. Great level of carbonation. Drinkable, yes. Though for some the unique nature of this brew might be a turn off.

Cloudy Yellow Color with Big Frothy White Head. Yeast, Malt, Citrus and Spice on the Nose. Peppery Yeast Flavor..Followed By Notes of Subtle Bread Dough, Spices and Citrus.. Malty Initially, Light Grassy Hops Finish..Nice Solid Blonde.

Svesse (8767) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - JUL 16, 2007
(Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm) Pale yellow colour, slightly hazy, with firm white head, leaving lots of lacing. Malty, fresh and spicy nose with lots of grassy hops. Malty taste with initial notes of tropical fruit and lemon, replaced by impressive amounts of grassy, slightly lemony hops. Long, dry finish with a fresh, citrussy bitterness. Very nice beer, leaning in the direction of De Ranke’s XX Bitter. Tasty, hoppy and fresh.

oberabcbbsok (693) - Hoboken, BELGIUM - MAY 14, 2007
A fruity smell also the smell of banana. A beer with sweet touch but that is also bitter. A bitter aftertaste make this beer a good beer

2.6
rauchbier (3932) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - SEP 29, 2005
Bottle, ZBF 2005. Gold, thin white head and moderate condition. Low grain in the nose, some maltiness in the mouth and a gentle sweet grainy finish. Unimpressive.

3.3
lachesis (757) - St Idesbald, BELGIUM - MAY 8, 2005
Yellow-golden beer with huge head. Nice malty aroma’s with some citrusy freshness in the nose and some hints of flowers. Taste is malty, nutty and has a strange vegetal bitterness (unripe peel of okkernuts) also a faint lemony touch in the end.

3.3
Engelsmann (651) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - APR 24, 2005
ZBF 2005. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is fresh fruity and yeasty. Taste is spicy yeasty
