Hanoi (975) - Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - NOV 26, 2014
Bottle. 2012. Nose is is wet oak, slight barnyard, a touch of sour leading to light toffee. Cheese and very faint white chocolate .

Taste vinegar, and vinous notes lead, before the emergence of the blond giving beer, giving straw, dry dusty farmyard yeast and the finish, a flash of sour green apples then is richly oak, white grape and a dry sour.

The mouthfeel is not quite right, a little watery.

The beer is a strange mix, which works surprisingly well, with the tastes coming in pleasing waves rather than blending or clashing.

375ml bottle, 2012 at 10.6%. Pours lemon gold with a medium head. Aroma is sour cheese, sharp lemon and a little ash. Taste has light lemon and straw to start. Funky cheese finish. Lemon aftertaste. Deceptively drinkable.

Bottle. Golden in color, white head. Lemon, summer meadow, barnyard and damp wooden notes in aroma. Stable leather, floral notes and lemony juicyness in taste. Later on some notes of hay and bit of sour fruityness appears, apples and fruity tartness too. No sign of the alcohol here, instead it’s actually quite refreshing. Funky and slightly sweet finish.

2012 Bottle from Etre Gourmet. How on earth can a blonde and a lambic end up at 11% abv?? Very little lambic or very strong blond? How ever.....cloudy deep golden with a small head. Very much like a lambic on the nose, tart, funky, barnhouse, horse blankett, lemon, fresh wood but also a little toffee.Bigger body, more sweetness and herbal bitterness than a lambic, but otherwise simular tastes but not as funky as the nose promised. Great!

Alengrin (5788) - BELGIUM - OCT 26, 2014
’Versnijbier’ of Loterbol Blond with 3 Fonteinen Lambic, a reference to an old Brabant tradition. Off-white, coarse head, orangey bronze colour. Malty, bready flavours are mixed with the tartness of the lambic, citrussy, hay, sherry, some woodiness in the finish, which otherwise ends in a dry sourishness. Quite interesting.

Bottle @ Dedollewaitors 14.000 celebration tasting. Unclear yellow body with a small white head. Aroma is funky, firework powder, cellar, yeast. Flavour is dry, bitter, yeast. Well balanced. I miss the funk in the flavour. But nice.

2012 Bottle from great grog, edinburgh. Hazy deep golden color, white head. Sour taste, fruits, yeast, stables. Taste is interesting sweet notes, sour apples, malty notes. It’s quite simple mix of belgian sweet ale and lambic.

Yellow amber with a small but relatively persistent top. Sour but with earth, lime peel, dried fruit, hop, some mint even. Long dry bubbly finish with all of the above

Bottle from The Bottle Shop, Bermondsey Arches on Druid Street. Hazy, deep golden amber, thin white head. Nose is funky, sour, toffee, horse blanket, lemon citrous, baked meringue, some fragrant yeast esters. Very much a limbic aroma but with extra toffee. Taste is sour, tart, crisp, funky and horse blanket, with lots of tangy cheese rind and fruity ester. Also minerally, lemon juice sour. More I’m sipping it, the more blonde ale I’m getting. Fragrant yeastiness, pale grain malt. It’s like a combination of Duval with light zingy Oude Gueze.
