Deep ruby color, small beige head. Light caramelly, berryish and malty aroma. Medium-bodied. Quite alcoholic ... caramel, woody hoppyness. This imperial red was quite heavy.
Draft at the brewpub. Pours a somewhat murky ruddied bronze. Tight, thin grayish head. Big buttery nose with a fair spike of piney, bright hop. Creamy medium body, plenty of carb. Mid-palate tastes like buttered aluminum, and then there’s this harsh rush of resiny bitterness. Good aroma of toasted malts and a good dose of citrus and floral hops. Poured a hazy light reddish brown with a decent lasting head. The flavor was mostly hoppy. A good amount of bitterness in the form of perfume and citrus followed by some dry toasted malt backbone. Lingering dry bitterness. Pretty nice.

Aroma – Deep rich malts with a light amount of hops
Appearance – Deep reddish color, hazy with a nice head
Flavor – A deep rich malty flavor with some hopps in the flavor
Palate – Sweet to the taste with a dry finish
Overall –This was a decent beer not the best from Engine house, had some subtle qualities of a lager beer.

This was very nice for a style that I am genereally not a fan of, not because they are all the same boring beers or taste bad, but because I am almost always disappointed, in the lack of consistency and flavor. This was an exception, while overall this is not an outstanding beer, if does have the most well balanced flavor that I have tried in quite sometime and definitely one of the better beers from this establishment. Extremely well balanced, intermingling, this very sweet maltiness, with a clingy citrusy hop bite immediately following but sticking around to linger on your tongue. This beer is an American Red Ale by style, one while not as famous as American IPA, is another Pacific North West favorite. There is huge range within this style, but the examples that I enjoy most, are ones that are aggressively hopped with PNW hops, but also have a good amount of malt sweetness from the addition of pale, and crystal malts. Like AIPA, these beers are very hoppy, but unlike AIPA, malt shares the stage with the hops. Fire Engine Red is an outstanding example of a beer having the best of both malt and hops, and makes for one delicious beer.
Fire Engine Red pours to a beautiful, murky, deep amber to red color with a thick white head and a good bit of carbonation. The nose on this beer is awesome, with lots of sweet and toasty malt aroma, paired with estery aromas of ripe fruit, and aromas of lemon and grapefruit. The palate is firm on the tongue with lots of good sweet and toasted malt flavor paired with estery flavors of fruit, and a nice back drop of citrus hop flavor. Fire Truck Red finishes with more malty and fruity flavors up front, then ends with a very zesty/lemony hop bite that lingers.
A very, very impressive Red Ale from a very impressive little brewpub in Tacoma. This beer was the perfect match to a nice plate of Fire Pasta which was linguini served with grilled chicken breast tossed in a spicy red chili cream sauce. By far their best beer, obviously beeter at the site than at a festival
