Draft at social brewery during the eagle rock tap takeover. Opaque black/ reddy hues with a lasting whisky tan head. Aroma is sweet nutty roasted malts, choc, vanilla. Flavour is composed of big hot alcohol , tangy apple, roasted burnt toast, bitter dark choc. Palate is milky, medium bodied. Moderate to low carbonation . lingering acrid roast and apple. S - Aroma is a mix of roasted dark chocolate malts with some coffee, prune and other dark fruits, English yeast, vanilla, and a bit of booze.
T - Starts off with some roasted milk chocolate malts with some raisin, prune, and other dark fruits and a bit of coffee. Through the middle, some strong coffee and roasted dark chocolate comes through with some vanilla and some English yeast notes. The finish is a mix of roasted chocolate malts, dark fruits, fruity English yeast, and a bit of booze.
M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and warming finish.
D - Very drinkable. Nicely balanced with the chocolate and dark fruit flavors working well together.
Bottle from the brewery. Pours a very dark brown, tan head. Aroma is very roasty and has lots of nice chocolate covered coffee beans. Flavor is dry, roasty, cocoa, coffee. Poured up on tap at beer rev. with dark body supporting a mocha colored ring of foam. The aroma is big with malt sweetened and molasses sweetened oily dark roasted coffee as well as some earthy wet cigar tobacco, a bit of chocolate malts and some dark roasted malts. Smells pretty nice. The taste is sweet with malts and molasses and then rolls into coffee, chocolate and more sugary sweetness. It sort of takes on a vanilla like note here and there too. A nearly black pour with a big khaki head. An interesting aroma. Has a hint of banana to go with lots of roast, dark fruits, and cola. There’s a hint of burnt sugar. Plenty of sugar along with a fair amount of roast and perhaps a touch of smoke. A little bit of banana and raisin, maybe some hints of chocolate and vanilla as well. Not bad.
