I tried this on tap at EagleMonk today. It was a rich amber color with a nice off-white head. The aroma is citrusy and spicy like most rye ales. The taste also had the distinct rye spiciness, but I’m wondering if they used a Belgian yeast for this. Either way, I definitely enjoyed it.
An okay floral note, nothing else really going for it. Friend described it as tasting like red koolaid, he’s not far off arminjewell (9689) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - JAN 18, 2015
Pour on tap at the brewery, hazy reddish pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, spice, rye, into a bit of earth, slight grassy note into a bit of pine. Taste is a mix of grass, pine, earth, some yeasty notes into a bit of spice, rye, slight earth, finishing bitter, dry. esjaygee (3904) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 12, 2013
On tap at Eagle Monk Brewpub. Cara-amber with a thin off-white cap. Aroma of rye and grains with maples and mild corn. Taste is grainy with rye, noble hops and faint bitterness. Silphium (3199) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - AUG 12, 2013
Growler from the brewery. Translucent, slightly hazy copper body, thin off-white head. Leafy, toasty nose with floral hops and brown sugar. Leafy body, too, with notes of tobacco and bubblegum, flower petals, and toasted caramel. Medium-bodied, hoppy yet quaffable, although the finish is muddy. MaroonOrange (137) - - JUL 30, 2013
On draft. Clear golden red color. Lots of rye malt and very nicely balanced. Light but very flavorful.

Sampler at the tap room and purchased a growler at same time. Reddish copper color a bit on the hazy side. A nice malt and rye aroma. The flavor is suprisingly good. Has solid malt base and you can taste the rye but its not over the top. Decent hop flavor as well. Mittenator (1612) - Michigan, USA - FEB 21, 2013
Flight at the brewery. I wish this had the aroma of their IPA because I liked the flavors more. Much more hop presence and a longer finish. The aroma wasn't unpleasant, just almost nonexistent. jatman1988 (9) - - JAN 8, 2013 does not count
A good example of a red almost IPA. This beer was exceptionally clear with a white fluffy head that stuck around. Some aroma of tropical fruit and citrus. Big hop flavor with pungent grapefruity goodness. The hop flavor along with the spicyness from the rye really sticks to the palate and is very enjoyable. Very good beer overall.
