Amber color with a medium head. Aroma is big and smokey with some roast, BBQ, and sweet wheat. Flavor is dynamite! Awesome roasty flavor with some light wheat and lots of BBQ/grill tastes. Smooth and satisfying finish. Would be awesome just on taste alone, but it could be the best 4% ABV (or less) beer ever. I love this stuff! TomDecapolis (4618) - Milton, Delaware, USA - OCT 9, 2008
On tap opening night. Pours a lightly hazy copper orange with golden notes and a medium creamy/bubbly white head left some lacing. Aroma of smoked meats, woody, campfire, light wheat and citrus notes. Flavor of smoked meats, campfire, Cheerios, wheat, light citrus notes and some hop flavor. egajdzis (6626) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 9, 2008
[Draft @ EB+B] Poured a lightly hazy, dark golden color with a medium sized, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked wood, toasted malts, wheat, citrus, and light toffee. Taste of smoked malts, almonds, toasted malts, and grainy, toffee notes in the end. blipp (9374) - La Mesa, California, USA - OCT 15, 2008
Poured honey amber with a thin white head. The smoky aroma is nicely restrained and not at all overpowering. Also has fruity and very light spicy notes. The flavor brings a nice smoky punch. Burlap, jerky, burnt wood. Hiding in the background is wheaty malt and a fair amount of hops that linger awhile after the smoke has left. Very good. Draft at the Brew Pub. My personal favorite of the trip. Light Amber body with a 1 finger off white heat. Smoke peat malt, char and campfire aromatics. Light fruity esters and a lightly smoke flavor. Solid offering.

Thin white head over a golden amber, aroma’s a subtle, pleasant smokiness without any caustic notes of fakesmoke flavor. Smoky nose that lingers, eventually giving way to an earthy, wheaty aftertaste. I’ll have to visit Philly again soon to get more of this stuff. Pours a deep coppery amber with a nice carbonationa nd fluffy slightly off white head- somewhat diminishing. Aroma is nicely smokey with some good racuhmalt pressence- cindery like the cinder bock, earthy doughiness and a nice wheat yeast estery character Good doughy wheat mixed with campfire, and smoked meats- get a bit harsh but not too much in a bad way- estery fruity, and a raw smokey finish. Probably my favorite one so far from Tom. Great start. weeare138 (936) - Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 9, 2008
Appears a slightly transparent, light gold with a small white cap that quickly fades into a mild collar. Gentle spots of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of smoked meats, doughy yeast and freshly picked, spring flowers.
Taste is of camp fire wood inflused meat, dough, and obvious wheat. Mild hopping comes through.
Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied, chewy, with a tad bit of bubble gum dust sticking to the palate. bp (926) - New York, New York, USA - OCT 10, 2008
Draft: I’m not a big fan of smoked beers but this one has me reconsidering the style, poured a golden amber with a thin white head, aroma was smoke and taste was the same but it was a much more mellow smoke taste then most smoke beers I have had. Really was an easy drinking beer. The best of the four drafts available for my palate. DSG (14922) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - NOV 29, 2008
(10/21/08) Draught at the brewpub in Philadelphia. Hazy amber color with a small white head. Aroma of smoked sausage, some malt, a bit of wood and caramelly hints. Rather smoky flavor with some light meat notes, malt, and a dry finish with some more smoke and faint hoppy and herbal notes. Medium-bodied. A good Smoked.
