COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big Hop IPA the first of the brews from Pittsburghs newest and MICRO-est microbrewery to hit the streets. Truly, a hopped-up American IPA with loads of Centennial and Cascade hops, and just barely enough malt backbone to balance it out. Our flagship brew.

Draft at Capones. Very turbid medium washed out gold color with minimal head. The aroma was hoppy, with pineapple and tangerine notes. The flavor was bready malty, with a solid hop bill, and heavy tangeriney notes, plus some floral notes as it finished. Nice complexity and very smooth.

On tap at Zenos. Pours a hazy orange caramel color with a medium creamy beige. Aroma of grapefruit, orange peel and faint floral hops. Taste is slightly bitter with an orange/grapefruit flavor. Quite hoppy and enjoyable.

Pours a hazy, dark orange with a thick white head. Big, clean, fresh, piney hop aroma. Biting grapefruit body, slightly bitter finish. Not bad.

On tap at Capones. Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a decent head and lacing. The smell was very hoppy without the classic IPA scents of pine, citrus or spice. The taste was rather one dimensional, and mouthfeel wasnt much more than bitterness. I love IPAs, but this one falls very short.

On tap at Capones... Slight hop aroma of the C. variety. Poured a reddish amber with a thin white head. The flavor had a sweet fruit flavor to it, which was then followed by a long bitter finish. Drinkable, but there are much better beers out there.

On tap at Capones. Taste was caramel malt and piney/perfumy hops. Very sweet initially. To sweet overall for my liking.

Draft @ Capones. Cloudy, orange color with a small white head. Aroma is sweet with some grapefruit, pine, and a bit of bready malt. Taste is pleasantly sweet with citrus, some pine, and lots of sugary malts. Sweeter than most IPAs and very refreshing. Nicely done! If Matt keeps this up, Ill never have to visit Pittsburgh to have some of the Citys best brews!

stegosaurus (1882) - Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 20, 2007
On draft @ Capones with the Mad Indian. Pours orange/copper with a two finger thick off-white head. Aroma of citrus, piney hops, and slight fruit. The flavor is citrus, slight fruit, piney hops, and caramel malts. Good brew. I would have liked a little more of a alcohol kick, or a stronger hoppy presence.

Sampled at Capones on Allagash night with Stegosaurus. Orange/coppery pour. Roasted malt aroma with hints of pine. Blended well but ok for me nothing great.
