Big Hop IPA – the first of the brews from Pittsburgh’s newest and MICRO-est microbrewery to hit the streets. Truly, a hopped-up American IPA with loads of Centennial and Cascade hops, and just barely enough malt backbone to balance it out. Our flagship brew.

Pours copper in color with a nice thin foam head. In the aroma I noticed carmel malts and a mild pine hop aroma. The flavor is of malted barley with a finish that is bitter and dry. Overall this was an above average beverage.

This is the best micro brew IPA I've ever had. Draft has a great color and aroma. Good piney after taste. Hint of malt keeps it balanced and smooth. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Growler from artmcd8. Thanks, Art. The pour is a bright amber-copper color with a moderate khaki head on top that produces light lacing. The aroma shows caramelized malt, resin, and some pine. The flavor follows right in line with that; piney hops, caramel, with the addition of some sweet doughy malt that leads to toasted almond, and a bitter, dry finish. There’s definitely quite a bit of malt flavor, and a roasty element to this, which makes it drink like a Pale Ale. The body is fairly light for an IPA, though. Not bad. A solid beer to kick back to but it falls short of what I expect from a good IPA.

Big dry hop body. Nice hop aroma. Nice hoppy beer with decent chacacter. Enjoyable and good, not top tier though.

Draft at Salt of the Earth. Pours cloudy amber. Notes of pine, citrus, caramel and some roasted malt. Should have tried this at the brewery it wasn’t tasting that fresh.

On tap in Pittsburgh. Pours a crystal-caramel color. Nose is citrus-piney. Flavor is a floral bouquet of lemon and pine. Very solid.

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2013 Pours a pale yellowish orange with a white head. Piney hop aroma. Not so huge of a hop aroma. Still decent though. Kinda overly bitter and a dry finish. An easy drinker. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Poured a clear pale amber with a medium-sized off-white head. Good bit of pine, some citrus on the nose. Pine, grapefruit, some biscuity malt and caramel. Moderately bitter. A little thin. Solid but unspectacular IPA.

From the tap poured a brown color with a good amount of head. Hoppy malty flavor with a quick finish.
