COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Southern English style Nut Brown Ale with a bit of chocolate character to it. Dark in color, but light in body, and leaning toward the sweet malty side. You'll really have to look for the hops in this one.

DocLock (10683) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 15, 2007
Amber colored with minimal off-white head. Aroma of caramelly malt, nuts, some toffee. Flat taste with heavy maltiness coupled with mid-palate nutty notes and some mild tobaccoey hints.

Cask @ Zeno’s. Brown, no head. Mild nose of chocolate malt and bread, but it’s extremely faint and very bland smelling so it’s difficult to judge this one at all. Sadly the flavor isn’t any better - weak, pallid, empty, with a watery texture as well. Disappointing.

On tap at East End Brewing during the big tasting. Pours a dark brown color with a medium beige head. The aroma is earthy, nutty, toasted malts and caramel. The flavor is very similar; a nice earthy brown malt dominated brew, lots of sweet chocolate and biscuit flavors. Very quaffable and nice.

nimbleprop (8382) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - JUN 1, 2012
On tap at my hotel, the Renaissance, in Pittsburgh. Pours a mostly translucent, deep brown with a thin, eggshell head. Malty nose, wet cardboard, nuts, oatmeal raisin cookie, yeast. Flavor was nice, simple, sweet, malty, bread, a little brown sugar. Had quite a bit of flavor for only 3.8%ABV. Medium bodied, dry finish.

JaBier (7972) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - NOV 15, 2009
Sample at East End. Hazy brown pour with a medium tan head. Malty aroma with some caramel, but not much else going on. Noble hop characteristics that give it a lagery feel. Malty flavor with a bit of nuts, a hint of roast and more of that lagery character.
