On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with small beige head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is cocoa and roast. Medium body, cocoa, bread, light dry finish, good. Drake (13737) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 3, 2013
Draft at the brewery. Pours a brown color with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of nuts, chocolate, brown malts. The taste is chocolate, nuts, mild hops. Medium bodied, very drinkable. DocLock (10683) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 15, 2007
Amber colored with minimal off-white head. Aroma of caramelly malt, nuts, some toffee. Flat taste with heavy maltiness coupled with mid-palate nutty notes and some mild tobaccoey hints. 3fourths (9345) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - APR 8, 2008
Cask @ Zeno’s. Brown, no head. Mild nose of chocolate malt and bread, but it’s extremely faint and very bland smelling so it’s difficult to judge this one at all. Sadly the flavor isn’t any better - weak, pallid, empty, with a watery texture as well. Disappointing.

On tap at East End Brewing during the big tasting. Pours a dark brown color with a medium beige head. The aroma is earthy, nutty, toasted malts and caramel. The flavor is very similar; a nice earthy brown malt dominated brew, lots of sweet chocolate and biscuit flavors. Very quaffable and nice. solidfunk (8953) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - SEP 21, 2016

On tap at my hotel, the Renaissance, in Pittsburgh. Pours a mostly translucent, deep brown with a thin, eggshell head. Malty nose, wet cardboard, nuts, oatmeal raisin cookie, yeast. Flavor was nice, simple, sweet, malty, bread, a little brown sugar. Had quite a bit of flavor for only 3.8%ABV. Medium bodied, dry finish. JaBier (7972) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - NOV 15, 2009
Sample at East End. Hazy brown pour with a medium tan head. Malty aroma with some caramel, but not much else going on. Noble hop characteristics that give it a lagery feel. Malty flavor with a bit of nuts, a hint of roast and more of that lagery character.
