Sampled from a 2008 bottle at the 2010 March Metro Detroit tasting. Poured near black with a medium nut brown head. Aroma had notes of smoke as well as roasted malts, slight hint of bourbon. A: Pours a dark black with a tall foamy head. Pretty good retention with some lace.
S: Very charred aroma to the point of almost being acrid. Burnt coffee, smoke, and booze.
T: Overly roasted flavors as well. Bitter chocolate, very deep roasted malt, coffee that has been on the burner all day. Sort of earthy with a slight sourness that I assume is a result of all the roast this one had. Boozy bourbon and light oak.
M: On the fuller side of body, bold, a bit too much to be honest.

Boycott-Breaking-Bottle, courstesy of Nate, March 10 tasting. Big, foamy head, tan and clingy. Black and thick. Meaty, roast, oak and chocholate. Watery mouthfeel, roast, astringent bitterness. Tastes like eating Black Patent malt. Meaty and mildly oaky.

From bottle. Smoky and rich, meaty with bitter roasted malt, light sweetness, chocolate, coffee. Phenolic with some woody character. Light bitter hops. Dark, dark black clear with tan foamy-rocky lacing head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Starts fairly dry with tons of roasted barley and smoky burnt malt taste. 2009 gusher thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a huge, deep brown head over a near black body. Aroma of brown sugar, toffee, bitter chocolate, coffee and oak. Taste is dry with some bitter cocoa, bitterness, and a touch of sourness. Chalky. Lively carbonation.
