Sampled from a 2008 bottle at the 2010 March Metro Detroit tasting. Poured near black with a medium nut brown head. Aroma had notes of smoke as well as roasted malts, slight hint of bourbon. Flavor began smokey and salty and became full of roasted malts. MeadMe (1664) - Fishhawk, Florida, USA - MAR 24, 2010
Sampled at pre-sex
A: Pours a dark black with a tall foamy head. Pretty good retention with some lace.
S: Very charred aroma to the point of almost being acrid. Burnt coffee, smoke, and booze.
T: Overly roasted flavors as well. Bitter chocolate, very deep roasted malt, coffee that has been on the burner all day. Sort of earthy with a slight sourness that I assume is a result of all the roast this one had. Boozy bourbon and light oak.
M: On the fuller side of body, bold, a bit too much to be honest.
D: Not drinkable at all, though I don’t think drinkability is what they were after with this one. dpjuart (1112) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 14, 2010
