Sample at the Ping Pong, Foosball, and Great Beer tasting on 03/03/2012. Thanks to JaBier for sharing a 2010 bottle. The beer is black with a medium thin khaki head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Stingy lacing on the glass. Chocolate, roasted malt and fruit in the nose. Medium body with flavors of sweet chocolate malt, dark fruit and bourbon. The finish is roasty with a dark malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

1 liter flip top bottle. Poured a dark black color with a larger sized tan head. Aromas of wood, vanilla, earthy, and some coffee. Tastes of wood, roast, lighter chocolate, dark fruits, earthy, and vanilla. I was getting the woody and vanilla, but the bourbon was almost non-existent. Lightly thin body but nice and smooth. Light lacing left on the glass.

"Via grrumet. Its a;ways a bit odd for me to try a smaller stout aged in barrels. Ive had very good, and a few failures. This is more success than failure, though Id still choose to barrel bigger brews. No indication of style on the bottle, and first whiff before pouring has hints of astringency and sour. Pours quite dark w/khaki head. A little on the tingly side, obviously not as thick as most BBA stouts, but it works with the flavor of light whiskey, heavy roast, coffee, chocolate and oak. Juuuust a hint of the astringent in there as well, but the flavor was superior to the nose. Good brew, flaws and all."
