A: Cloudy-orange-brown body. Moderate white cap. Moderate lacing and retention.
S: Fresh baked sour dough bread. Slightly sweet like a glazed donut.
T: Dense bread flavors. Sour dough, some rye. Again, the sweetness is there, reminiscent of a fresh, warm glazed donut. Carroway spice hints are noticeable
M: A bit dense and chewy. An interestingly clean finish though.

Pours a hazy golden brown color with a thick creamy off-white head that lasts throughout leaving huge chunks of lacing on the pint glass. Earthy aroma with yeat/bread, caramel malt, rye and caraway seed notes. Smells slightly tart with subtle spice presence. Extemelysmooth creamy medium body. Perfectly balanced with lots of caramel malt, creamy center and tart finish. The sourness is not overpowering with lots of otyther flavors shining through including caraway see, caramel maltiness, hazelnut, sourdough bread, rye and lactic milk(?). Tap at Capone’s. Pours a murky dark copper with a slight lacing white head. Aroma is of rye malts, some earthy notes and slight fruit notes also. Growler shared by puzzl. Deep amber beer. Cloudy with a thick tan head. The aroma is sort of odd. Lightly malty with a touch of spicy rye breadiness. A light spiciness and a kiss of fruitness as well. There is an odd vegetal quality that is very distracting. There is a light bananaish flavour over the top of the rye. Growler from Cheapdark. I’ve had a few kvass before, but more soda-like ones, from Iceland and Russia, but this is rather different. Man, what a weird beer. Kind of dirty laundry, tuna fish aroma is quite a turn off. The taste is OK though and it grows on me as I drink more. Very malty, spicy, rye, slightly bready, more tuna (blech), just quite odd and a bit lacking in the bread department which I was hoping for more of. Pretty easy drinking. The aroma really puts me off to this, fix that up and I think it’d be quite nice.

Growler of Kvass courtesy of tpd975. Pours hazy brown with light tan head. The aroma is full with brown sugar coated prunes, solid freshly turned dark earthiness, a touch of floral and lavender, a rye twang and a hodgepodge of wintery spices. The taste is quite rich with flavor considering the nearly non alcohol nature of this brew. I get full unyielding and yummy earthiness, a rye singe, winter spices going here and there to go along with prunes and sugar coated raisins. D-lish. Growler… Murky, caramel-colored ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Fantastic retention. The nose offers less caraway seed and more Belgian yeast-like phenols than I anticipated - not a big fan of those clove-like phenols. Light to medium-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and soft carbonation… feels like more than 3.3%. The flavor is mainly sweet and spicy. Maybe some yellow and tropical fruits. Short, sweet finish. I love these East End session beers! Another great one. Due to the nature of the style, it’s score isn’t very high, but I could gladly drink this all day. Aroma was somewhat weak. There was a hint of yeast and alcohol, but very not up front. Pour was a nice medium brown with a 2 finger near tan head. Taste was very doughy and light with biscuit and Panera bread in the aftertaste. No aftertaste and no alcohol detected. Nice session beer yet again. cheap (6254) - CHINA - JUN 27, 2009
On tap at the brewery. Proper name is session #24. This is the brewers version of kvass made with dark rye bread. Darker than the regular kvass but just as clowdy. Aroma is somewhat tart. Interesting attitude on the first taste. Perhaps not as fun as the original kvass becuase its not as tangy and I like sour beers. Not much carbonation. Easy to drink and it goes down way too easy. Interesting and pecuiliar aftertaste, makes me want more.
