750ml bottle, The Criterion, Leicester. Sweet citric sickbowl nose again, but this time I wanna jump right in. Acidity, spice, liquorice. Johnny Cash ’Hurt’ on the jukebox. Raisiny dried fruit. Medicine. The lollies my mum used to buy me from the chemist. Citric and dried fruity. Diffficult to pin down. Didn’t get the lime at all if I’m honest, which I suppose is a good thing. Octo reckoned Peach Soothers and Aspartame, I said Honey and Lemon Lockets. Throatsweet bittersweetness. I want to be ill.

Tap, at ZBF 2006. Amber, thin white head and gentle condition. Low toffee sweet aromas, gentle fruitiness in the mouth with a gentle spritzy tonic water mouth feel, low fruity maltiness in the finish with more suggestions of tonic water (quinine?)

Bottled - Criterion Leicester. A lightish amber coloured beer with an off-white head and lacing. The aroma is yeasty, peppery and spicy. There are hints of fruit but it’s not really distinguishable as limes. The taste does though have notes of lime. It is sweet and yeasty. It has the Ecaussinnes house character which I find nicely drinkable. Rating number 3000. For a pictorial description see my blog which is linked to from my page here. Bloody html

MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 31, 2006
A Mes rate: 75cl bottle as a present from Jason at the Belgian Belly. Malt and lemon with a little spice and an almost soupy character in the nose. Amber appearance with a slight but long lasting head. Malty and with bitter lemons and a bit of alcohol showing. Lots of caramel too. Slight soapy note lets it down a touch. Unusual soft yet prickly mouthfeel. Bitter sweet finish. Reasonable all rounder.
