3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Can. Dark brown with a pretty, bubbly head. Roasty malt nose, with chocolate and light soy sauce. Dry, roasty flavor with some sweet chocolate, big bitterness. Body is a bit thin. Really dry, bitter finish. Interesting, decent.
Brown with creamy golden head. Aroma is roasty, bit of stink, bit of spice, maybe leathery and bit of smoke. Taste more straightforward, choc-creamy, roasty malt, something weird too. Maybe bit of hoppy bitterness there too. Not bad, but probably won’t drink again. Frank (4240) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 22, 2012
Decent porter from a can in Japan. Clear brown color, small but long lasting head. Nice chocolate nose and good firm bitterness in the finish. Creamy texture and just a little bit sweet. It’s slightly metallic but that is my only complaint. jonno (2980) - JAPAN - NOV 17, 2012
I could probably just transpose any one of my other reviews on Echigo and say this has a bit more roast character to it, but that would be cheating. Not overly roasty, but full and rounded, safe and drinkable like most Echigo beers. maekchu (4069) - Hirakata, JAPAN - NOV 16, 2012
Can from Circle K. Strong chocolate nose. Thick dark brown, translucent at edge, fat-bubble head. Big bitter initial, strong coffee; mid brings out sweetness and roast malt; finishi intensifies the bitterness and then slowly mellows to a slight metallic note. Medium body. Very heavy aroma and flavor. Somewhat light body for a porter. An interesting beer from this inconsistent brewery.
