350ml Can from Liquor Mountain, Kyoto (¥246):
An okay Japanese stout that featured some pleasant roasted malts & some interesting smoked flavours in the early going, although the latter was fleeting. The beer was balanced but basic with some coffee & chocolate coming through at times too, definitely worth a try if you're in Japan but I'm not entirely sure it's one I'd put on the 1001 beers list.

sulawang (1187) - - AUG 10, 2017
Visual: (cellared for 5 years). Pours dark cola brown without a significant head, thick ringed retention, lots of clustered very active micro streams.

Nose: caramel liquid barley malt, light roast, hints of nutty. (lvl-8)-pungency, much stronger as it warms

Attack: dull crisp, soft light creamy, sweet caramel malt impression

Mid-palate: flat-tingly, (lvl-5-sweetness), molasses barley malt, light roast caramel malt, nutmeg, biscuity

Finish: hints of chocolate, lingering nutty-woody light bitter, cola

Summary: A very easy-to-drink 7%er stout with a solid balance of sweet and roasted malt. Slightly heavy malty sweet by the end but there’s enough complexity to balance it out. It lacks a bit of creaminess and push at the finish.

Bottle - Dark roast and chocolate with some molasses notes. Dark brown with a small beige head. Much like it tastes with a touch of toast.

33 cl can, bought in Tokyo in January 2017. Black color. Big dense beige head with good retention. Aroma’s: big roast, a bit drop, caramel/dark sugar. Retronasal there’s caramel, roast, coffee/mocha, hints of red fruit. Flavor is moderate sweet, roasty, Below medium body. Finish is slightly dry, lots of roast, light bitterness. Body could have been a tad bit fuller, but a fine stout otherwise.

From Wasabi. In Teku glass. After dinner. 2006 batch. 5 days after BB date. Very smooth, with lots of chocolate and slight coffee notes. Like a sessionable imperial stout.
