UPDATED: NOV 18, 2003 Bottled. Orange to brown body, not too hazy, under a frothy head. This was an older bottle, so some of the haze may have been in the sedimentation. Retains a hint of dark roasted flavor, but lots of tiny bubbles from the wheat. German hops pretty well balanced.

I’ve had this quite regularly on holidays, but somehow never rated it. 50 cL Bottle at home. Pours hazy brown with a large off-white head. Sweet arome with some caramel, banana, wheat, some toffee and yeast. Taste is a bit sweet, with caramel, banana, bit of wheat, spices and yeast. Medium body and carbo. Pretty nice dunkelweizen.

Brown colour with light haze. Aroma and flavour have typical Weizen banana yeasty sweetness. This Dunkel version has a light toastiness and hint of caramel too.

Pours dark brown from the bottle. The aroma is about what you would expect for a dunkles Weizen -- yeasty, strong banana notes, roasted caramel. The roasted notes and the banana carry into the taste, which is sweet, bread like, and a bit nutty. The finish is short and remains sweet. All in all a solid Weizen, but nothing exceptional. A bit of spice, particularly in the finish, would raise the rating for me. Good stuff.

Edelweiss Weizbier Dunkel @ hotel Comwell Middelfart.: Fawn head, about clear brown-caramel body. Floral, coriander-gingerish spice-malty aroma. Fruity taste of sweet malts, berries, grassyander. Finishes sweet fruity malty. Normal body. Up carbo. Overall alright pal to a hakkebøf.
