An Export Stout with home roasted and crushed wattleseed additions. Apart from exhibiting wonderful hazelnut, cocoa and coffee flavours, wattleseed also has some demonic qualities. This is the first batch, with plain text as label. New batches (revised recipie) are listed under Ashes Two Mashes.

Slight hop malt aroma. Dark brown colour with poor head & lacing. Bitter malt hop flavour. Smooth palate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Patersoi (165) - AUSTRALIA - SEP 12, 2015
Pours mid brown with an aggressive tan head that quickly dissipated. Upfront sweetness but quickly balanced by a hoppy bitterness. The finish is charcoal and the very end goes sweet and bitter again ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

StevieT (2015) - AUSTRALIA - APR 9, 2015
From a bottle. Lots of sediment, not sure if it was a bit off, not as amazing as I’d hoped. A bit too bitter.

Choos (754) - Taylors Hill, AUSTRALIA - SEP 16, 2014
Aroma: some toffee and nut App: black with a heart of red brown, tan head with sudsy lacing Flavour: malt with hop and nutty flavours Palate: medium mouthfeel with residual metallic hop ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle from Hoo Ha Bar 270614. Decent beer but certainly not worth the $19.50 that I paid for it.

vanvenlo (1894) - Glen Iris, AUSTRALIA - MAY 4, 2014
Slowbeer bottle (4-May-2014) Burnt toffee malt and light herbal aroma. Black brown colour, low head&suds lace. Simple roast malt and herbal flavour. Roasted malt finish and burnt malt grassy after.

TEJA (3099) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAR 10, 2014
Bottle chaired by omhper, thanks. No head. Clowdy Brown color. Big roasted malt aroma. The roasted malts also dominate the taste. Full bodied with some residual sweetness.

omhper (25243) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - MAR 8, 2014
Bottled, from Slowbeer, Melbourne. Cloudy dark brown, small head. Earthy nutty nose. Mid sweet with medium body and clean, rounded spritzy mouthfeel, Caramel and nuts, some chocolate, Low bitterness.

ComradeK (1236) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - FEB 24, 2014
330ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a small light beige head, which does not last well, nor leave much lacing. Chocolate truffle, cappuccino and hazelnut notes make up the aroma. Light herbal hops and wattleseed bitterness up front give way to black coffee and roasty malt in the mid-palate. Bittersweet cocoa comes in at the finish. This is not a bad FES. It’s not the most complex out there, but I do like the use of native ingredients.

Davros (3208) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JAN 29, 2014
Pours black with a small fading head. Nose shows hazelnut liqueur, cocoa, chocolate essence and roasted malt. Similar bittersweet flavours, with a prominent nutty note amongst cocoa, almost and roasted malt. Carbonation seems a bit excessive.
