COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
No other beer shows off what malts can do in a beer better than porter. Certified Organic Porter uses a complex blend of five malts that compliment and highlight one another in a harmonious mixture. Only one addition of imported Pacific Gem hops is used to provide a balancing bitterness without introducing any other hop character. While decidedly in the robust porter category, Certified Organic Porter has none of the harsh character people often associate with dark ales. Instead, what one finds is a rich, smooth beer with suggestions of chocolate and just a hint of coffee. So smooth and malty, this porter will convert even the non-dark beer drinker.

Black beer with a tan head. Roasted malt, chocolate, earthy hops, light coffee, some lightly sweet malt. Comes across as a very well-crafted, straight forward Porter. Quite enjoyable.

Skyview (6076) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - SEP 5, 2016
Received a 12-oz bottle via trade as an extra. Pours a semi-clear cola brown colored brew with an average sized off-white head that quickly disiiaptes and leaves behind a thin ring and film top. Aroma of chocolate, a hint of coffee and earthy hops. Taste is medium bodied, flavors of roasted chocolate malt, some caramel and earthy hops. Finish is a touch lighter than most other porters I’ve tried, some chocolate and tasted caramel aftertaste.

DraftDodger (1574) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - SEP 3, 2016
Copenhagen 3/9 2016. 33 cl bottle from Gunnar Madsen Vinhandel. Apparently a porter from the first certified organic brewery in the US. Bridge crossing the Eel River on the label. Pours clear reddish brown with off-white head. Settles as thin layer of foam. Aroma of sweet toffee intermingling with bitter coffee, dark chocolate and dark roasted malts. Medium carbonation and slightly thick palate. Flavor is medium sweet followed by more pronounced bitterness. Aftertaste is coffee bitterness. A bit watery. A nice light porter - and you can drink it with a clear and organic conscience.
