A typical Austrian Märzenbier, mildly hoppy, highly fermented and full-bodied in taste. With 5.2% alcohol by volume and original gravity of 11.8ºPlato, it is a highly drinkable, well-rounded beer with a pronounced malt flavour. Award winner at national and international beer competitions, Gold Medal winner and holder of Monde Selection International High Quality Trophy. “Märzen” is derived from the German word for the month of March, März. Traditionally, beer was brewed in the autumn, and the barrels of beer would be covered with ice during the cold winter months. By the time the ice melted in March, the beer would be ready to drink.

Clear golden yellow with white foam head. Somehow the foam wouldn’t stay (high altitude, drinking this in airplane). Aroma is malty, taste is good märzen taste, somewhat sparkling. High carbonated seems, or again airplane mode? Short but bitter aftertaste. (Vienna 201211)

Clear light golden color with slightly off-white head. Aroma has clean malt and noble hop character. Taste is quite balanced for a märzen, very clean malt, slightly grainy, not toasted or overly sweet. Finish has a light bitterness. Light body, medium carbonation. It’s not really what you would expect from the style but overall it’s a clean and easy drinking lager.

Lekker smaakvol Oostenrijks pils. Veel mineralen, gebalanceerde smaak en toch goed doordrinkbaar ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours crystal clear light holden color with a white head that dissapears almost instantly. Aroma is very malty and grainy. Pale malts mainly. Taste is malty, light and grainy. Kinda skunked too to be fair. Watery texture, soft carbonation, light body.

Icedwarf (1681) - Etten-Leur, NETHERLANDS - MAY 27, 2017
Helder geel bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is licht zoet en fruitig met iets van druiven en rozijnen.

33 cl bottle. Golden color, clear, thick white head, disappearing, some skunk. Aroma is malty, grainy, light metallic, vaguely sugary. Taste is flattish, sweetish, soft bitter end. Average carbonation, oily texture, short finish, mild alcohol. Boring, noting going on.

Gurthnar (5892) - Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - APR 12, 2017
Bottle. Average Austrian macro. Sweetish, syrupy, grainy and metallic, with a touch of astringency. Meh.

vinivini (2533) - Gomel, BELARUS - APR 10, 2017
Can. Grains and spicy hops on nose. Slightly skunky, Similar taste. Not enough malts for a märzen. Light bitterness. Feels pretty industrial. Drinkable.

Canned, brought back from Austria. Pours a clear golden beer with a big white head on top. Aroma of grains, malts and wet grass, not much else. Typical bottom fermented smell. Flavor is bready, light bitter and malty. Fairly high carbonation, giving it a nice sparkly mouthfeel. Short, light bitter aftertaste. Just ok.
