Wonderful dark copper color and toasted malt taste. Not overpowering but very flavorful and worth trying if this is not your typical kind of beer. Very different to find a german red beer.

from bottle, purchased at mannheim central station. red, slightly hazy colour with a frothy, two-finger head. the aroma is quite fruity, didn’t expect this at all from this beer. heavy malty notes, some earthy hops. chocolate mixed wirth strawberry, wow, it smells like a chocolate bar with strawberry yogurt, hints of vanilla as well. the aroma is really appealing! so let’s give it a taste. medium sweet taste in the beginning, then it turn to a sort of bitterness. fruity, malty flavour, almost as the aroma. light to medium body, quite creamy. yeah, this is a good one! damn, I should have bought more of those than the rather poor pils from the same brewery....

Feinschmecker (202) - Seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 26, 2009
Reddish brown color. Sweet malty aroma. Flavor-wise it fits somewhere between a dark lager and alt beer. A little caramel-like and not too sweet on the palate.

0.33 l bottle from Eichbaum Brauhaus, Mannheim... Interesting red-brown color, little bit like cola-mix. Average head... Alcoholy malt aroma of coffee and some intensive fruits... Mild sweet dark beer taste... Average ending... Interesting dark beer version...

Local rewe in suedstadt karlsruhe. Pours rich brown reddish with a nice off white head. Taste of black currants and malt, moving towards a chocolately palette with bitterness which takes the edge off the malty sweetness. Good solid beer.
