   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 15/20
TAR (2732) - Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina, USA - MAY 11, 2014
Vom fass at Brauerei Eichhorn Forchheim in Dec. 2012: Luminous blonde. Broken but creamy white foam adorns the glass with beautiful lacing. Solid aroma of lemon, toasted hay, pepper, melon, pungent herbs, and rich pils malt. Soft body. Firm and snug carbonation. Assertively hoppy and lightly salty with a grassy bitterness scrubbing the palate alongside a surge of bright minerals and fervidly peppery hop spice. Distant metallic zing comes and goes as the coarse toastiness takes hold. Quite lean at the core, though ample floral succulence aids in rounding out the body. Finishes leafy and peppery in its bitterness, with softening shades of sweet honey-kissed hay and toasted baguette. The framework is certainly here as its free of defects and the hops are nicely layered, just would appreciate a brighter hop bouquet. Still, its a lovely Franconian pils.

3fourths (9322) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 15, 2013
draft at Brauerei Eichhorn in Forchheim. same perfect appearance as the helles - huge rocky white head on a sparkling rich gold body. the German hops are spicy and mildly juicy, then become a bit more sweaty / stenchy, musty and pungent (cheese rind) with dried grass notes throughout. smacking, crisp and light-bodied with frothy, full, soft carbonation. lemon / citrus oil comes into play as it breathes more. leaves a pleasant mineral and hop acid buzz in the mouth.
