The first things I noticed about this beer were its exceptional clarity and bronze color. As I raised the glass to take the first sip, the overwhelmingly malty aroma struck me. This beer has good mouthfeel and roasted malt taste. I did not notice any prominent hoppiness in the aroma or finish. Perhaps it was overpowered by the malt (or my dinner)? Drank it after a hefe and during a meal of brauenwurst & kraut, so I might need to try it again on its own.

Ar: Doughy, rich malt; some grassiness and dried flowers; slightly skunky; hint of rosy alcohol. Ap: Copper and clear; medium off-white head with nice retention, leaves a small but solid cap of foam with a bit of lacing on the glass sides. T: Rich, toasty malt up front; light sweetness, mingles with clean alcohol; dough and slight toffee; slight sherry; low bitterness; with a little herbal hop flavor; fermentation profile is clean, with an emphasis on the malt; finish is clean toast and a hint of sulfur and booze. P: Medium-full body with medium carbonation; very smooth and lush; finish is medium. O: A good rendition of a rare style; malty depth, clean fermentation profile, and some nice hop and alcohol accents.

Overall pretty good. Good malty character but a bit unbalanced. A little sweet

Well, we wanted a new type of beer to rate, but this type is not very good. Poured from the cursed green bottle into a glass-- the color is a deep amber and translucent. The aroma is kind of frat basement-y, and the taste is almost as if someone mixed maple syrup into a Bud Light. It is somewhat refreshing though. Good for washing down Chinese leftovers after a lovely sunset run with your booboo, before traitorously departing for the weekend to Denver.

On tap at the Pour Taproom in Greenville. Pours with a amber colored body that has a light haze. It’s topped with a tall, durable, creamy, beige head. Aroma: surprisingly hoppy for style; a bit too musty. The flavor has mild bitterness but plenty of other hop flavors, mainly of the herbal-floral variety. Possible off-flavors.

taunusmies (387) - FINLAND - AUG 16, 2017
Clear, amber colour. Sweet malty aroma. Brown sugar, roasted malts, fermented bread. A hint of caramel and dried fruits. Medium carbonated. Bitterish earthy aftertaste. Fair punch of alcohol.

Malty aroma. Malt, wheat and taste of basements. Not so good bitterness that fills the upper part of the mouth for a long time. No beer I liked. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
