Pours dark golden orange, clear, big off white head. Aroma is raisins and bready malt. Taste is sweet, caramel, raisins, whisper of hops. Medium mouthfeel, well carbonated.

$2.60 bottle from Wine Warehouse. Pours deep amber, clear, with an off-white head. Aroma of alcohol, cheep beer, roasted malts, grasses. Flavor is heavy on the caramel, but a strange version of caramel - a little too sweet, but also a little too grainy? Also grassy and earthy.

Aroma: caramel and roasted dark malts. Appearance: clear amber and almost no head. Taste: malty, roasted caramel, low herbal bitterness, semi-dry. Palate: medium body and medium carbonation, malty. Overall: Quite ok, should be more intensive.

I wasnt too impressed by this Dunkler Bock. It indeed had some dark malts and it resulted in too much and unbalanced bitterness for my taste.

Redbrown beer with minimal white head. Aroma of malts and alcohol. Strong alcohol taste with a long slightly sweet finish. Medium body. It is ok.

eunck (165) - Hamburg, Hamburg, GERMANY - JAN 10, 2016
Beautiful clear redbrown beer. Very typical to the style, with the nut/oak-like bock flavour clearly dominating. The alcohol can be smelled and felt a bit too obviously for my taste, enhanced by bitterness. Palate is very pleasant, silky smooth with full body and low carbonation. Coming from the original Bock-brewer this beer serves well as a benchmark for other beers of the style.

Mar 15. A 0.33 l bottle from some supermarket in Berlin. It poured clear copper body with a small head. Sweet malty aroma, alcohol, a bit earthy. Flavor was sweet too, but roasted component gets more into the focus, although caramel and brown sugar were probably still most dominating. Notable alcohol, too. Medium body with long sweet caramel finish and a light bitter alcohol bite. All in all, not bad as it might sound, but far from a good Dunkler Bock.

Bottle. Really nice cooper color with generous head and nice lacing. Smells like good bread with a citric note, well blended. Flavor is slightly metallic but like a robust pils. A little to the sweet side, though again fairly balanced.
