Beautifully dark brownish red with dirty yellowish foam, like I like it. Smells oddly cheesy with hints of sex, but also a good feeling of alcohol. Tastes like malt, alcohol, rock candy and a bit of soy. Too alcohol-intensive for my taste, but not by much.

Bottle 33cl, a clear amber red beer with low head. Nose is on toasted barley and barley sugar. Aroma is malty with nut and prune touch, tannic touch, dry grapes notes, bit vinous at the finish. Robust bock.

Dark orange/pink body, with no mentionable head. Aromas of lager malt, rather skunky, with a good dose of raspberry. Malty spicy and piney on the flavour, with raisins and a warm alcohol finish. Not my favourite style, but quite good when taken with Russian oysters!

Rated on 4-22-2011 at JK ODonnells Irish Ale House, Fort Wayne, IN. This draft beer has a small beige head that quickly dissipates, reddish orange transparent body, no visible carbonation, and no lacing. The aroma is caramel malt and a suggestion of dark fruits. The taste is moderately sweet, caramel malt and dark fruits. The mouthfeel is soft carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. This is just a so-so doppelbock. The flavor fell short for the style which is disappointing as doppelbocks are one of my favorite beer styles.

Pours clear and ruby red in the light and brick otherwise. Fizzing off-white head that fades quickly to a half-coat. Aroma is sweet, lightly toasted malts and winter-spiced bread. Taste is much the same but sweet darkfruit notes are prevalent with the booze-soaked bready malts. Much caramel and toffee as well. Hops are hard to find, but there is a slight backend bitterness. Slick on the palate and a bit fizzy. A good dbock but a touch too sweet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
