Bottle from Beery Christmas 2016 #19 from Saveur-Biere.com - Color: deep dark caramel brown beer with no carbonation and amber foam. Smell: caramel and strong sweet malt. Toffee. Taste: full body with strong caramel and toffee malt. Sweet and toffee. Good attenuation. Very drinkable. Aftertaste: caramel and toffee. I like it.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 9A). Bottle 33 cl - Batch 06.09.16 (BBF 06/NOV/2017). AROMA: medium malt aroma with toasty notes, some toffee and faint roasted bread crust. low cooked vegetal note (cereal husks). APPEARANCE: dark ambar color and clear. medium ivory head with medium retention. TASTE: medium-low toasty malt presence without much complexity. Maillard compounds absent. medium-low bitterness with a semi-sweet finish. PALATE: medium body with medium-low carbonation. slight alcohol warmth. OVERALL: a Doppelbock that resembles a Strong Bitter flavor-wise. Needs more malt complexity.
