COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With clear notes of espresso, dark chocolate and a hint of authentic Icelandic coffee, this Porter is dark and rich, offering a medium body that is robust, yet smooth on the palate and easy to drink. There’s no need to be afraid of the dark anymore.

Aroma of sweet milk chocolate. Very smooth and easy-going porter. Big up to the Hlíđarfjall mountain :)

Bottle at Beyond The Pale, Leek. Pours a deep brown colour with a thin beige head. Aroma of toast, light smoke, some chocolate, slight biscuit and subtle spice. Taste of toast, chocolate, biscuit, some smoke, slight caramel, a little coffee, a little brown sugar and subtle spice, maybe liquorice. Medium bodied and moderate carbonation. A dryish, biscuity, chocolate bitterness in the finish. A dry, toasty, chocolatey brown ale kind of beer. Full of flavour and a dry finish. Like an old fashioned southern brown ale. Nice.

LCI. Nice porter, bit smokey, some roasted malts. Nice taste, but a bit watery for me, could have had a bit more fuller body. Not bad though.

Draft. Pours deep brown with a beige head. Kind of a grainy base, with mild toasted malts, roasted grain, and a grainy finish. Reminds me more of a schwarz.

Robe noire, opaque, mousse beige moyenne qui s’efface en un fin filet. Nez intense de grillé/brulé : pain grillé et café. Bouche également sur le pain grillé et le café. Corps moyen, faible amertume, longueur moyenne. Un porter sympathique mais pas inoubliable.

Close to perfection A very good dark beer, well balanced between dark malt and hop flavours, sustained by a perfect body.

Bottle from Salling. Dark brown with tiny beige head, fastly diminishing. Aroma: coffee, roasted malts, burned caramel, burned sugar and chocolate. Taste of coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malt. Texture is watery. Fine beer for a good price.

Pours a very dark brown color. Not much of a head. A few big bubbles of cream color head, clinging to one side. Actually, it’s sounding up on the one side, but the rest of the glass has one. But boy, are they clinging, and not giving up. Strange. No lacing however.

Aroma is chocolate and coffee. Toasted malts. Malty, and clean. Some caramel, some liclkrice.

Taste is bittersweet, like chocolate. Toasted malt. Not too sweet, maybe a touch bitter. A touch smokey, or maybe it’s ash. A little molasses.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Soft carbonation. Very smooth, very clean. Could use a touch more body, but otherwise, excellent.

Overall, it’s a fine porter. Not quite what I expected, but still not disappointing. That odd head hangs on to the very end. I would recommend this, and I would buy it again.
