Crikey, these guys are off to a promising start. Love the fact their first two beers are both pale ales. Even better that they’re both pretty damn good. This is a flavoursome, easy drinking APA. Doesn’t have quite as much bite as Little Creatures but it’s streets ahead of the stream of watery imposters that followed. I knocked a bottle of this off in about three minutes and swiftly regretted that I’d only bought one. Nice mix of tropical fruit flavours and at 40 ibus, a reasonable slug of bitterness in the swallow. Hazy light tan, with a fluffy head. Aroma is orangey and a touch floral. Balanced, nice grapefruit, pommelo, sweet malts, good balance. ComradeK (1230) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - APR 2, 2011
330ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber gold, with a small white head, which lasts well and leaves good lacing. The aroma is lightly fruity, with mango being particularly noticeable, and some hints of pine in the background. Strong, IPA-like hops start it off, with lemon and pine notes dominating. The mango returns in the middle, with some grainy malt leading into the finish, which also has a resurgence of the initial hops. This is not quite as good as their Viking IPA, but it is much more interesting than most APAs, and quite an enjoyable ale. ALLOVATE (3004) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAR 26, 2013
Love the simplicity of the label, love the tight aroma and bright, sourish hops on the palate. This is a strange one and goes against the grain of most of the pale ales on the market. It starts off with a persistent dollop of white atop a hazed, pastel orange body. Bright, fruity and tart nose showing under-ripe honeydew, lime zest, grapefruit and desert lime pulp with an underlying biscuity sweetness. Light malt front overpowered by quenching, tart and tight hops and yeasty notes. Sour, bitter fruit and rough pine backend precedes a fresh citrus finish that fades rapidly. Body is light but its firm presence and soft and creamy feel give it a weight beyond its gravity. Quite impressive; one I’ll have to grab a hold of fresh bottled!!
