Fruity aroma, surprisingly hoppy for a black IPA, mild roasted flavours, very sessionable which dangerous for such a strong beer. Well worth a try if you like your black IPA’s on the hoppy side.
Dark brown. Thin head. Aroma is chocolate mint, citrus. Body is full and there’s a lot of chocolate taste with rich bitterness and a shot of hoppy minty stuff. Good brew, big and balanced for this style. Smokey_P (13) - Currumbin Valley, AUSTRALIA - OCT 12, 2015
Beautiful beer. No hint of the 9.2%. Huge aromas of pine and citrus. Velvet mouthfeel with roasty & toffee or burned caramel characters to back the fruit load of the hops. Resin, so much sweet resin. Love this beer. A personal favourite. Be careful, it goes down well, especially as it warms. Davros (3231) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAY 5, 2015
Pours black with a quickly fading head.
Nose shows coffee, roasted malt, pine, resinous hops, fruity confectionery. Nice.
similar flavours: coffee, piny hops, roasted malt, soft sweet malt. ShaneJ (898) - AUSTRALIA - FEB 18, 2015
Bottle from Slowbeer (June 2014). Oily black, creamy tan head, roasted malt, ash, pine hops, toffee, stonefruit, coffee grounds, sweet malt dominated by resiney pine bitterness, full body, thick texture. Sneaks up on you, but very nice. mkel07 (6195) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - JAN 19, 2015
On tap at Tomahawk Bar 170115. Deep black colour and looked a lot bigger bodied in the glass than it felt in the mouth. Good combination of maltiness and happiness with hops winning the battle in the mouth.
