COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

Can. A very deep red amber colour with no head at all, aroma of butterscotch and alcohol. Candy sweet taste with a subtle maltiness.

This wasn’t too good. Beer with a strong alcoholic taste just for the taste of alcohol...

Acaro (174) - Madrid, SPAIN - MAR 23, 2017
Aroma: Strong caramel and toast notes with an alcoholic touch. Appearance: Red amber color with hazy liquid and minimal white head. Taste: Heavy sweet touch with light sour notes. Palate: Full body with sticky oily texture and flat carbonation. Long sweet and alcoholic finish. Overall: The kind of beer you like or not, there is not a middle point. I have tried beers with higher alcohol percentage with less alcoholic feeling.

floydslip (392) - Washington DC, USA - MAR 10, 2017
Deep mahogany colored beer with a medium foamy light beige head that drops thick lace. Nose of candied nuts, caramel, and toffee, but it’s a bit faint. Flavor is more pronounced and sweet with the same basic flavors as the nose with an overarching acrid flavor that is a bit off-putting. Hides the alcohol well, but the flavor is a bit strange.

Bottled, 330ml aged 9.5yrs from the LeClerc Hypermarket, Vouziers, Ardennes, France. Clear amber with short beige head. There is a boozy, sherry nose to this on opening, there was still plenty of natural fizz to this but flattened out on pouring. Fruity, apricot notes, loads of alcohol and really very sweet. Warming on a cold frosty winters evening. It’s okay.

3.2
Kauge (1928) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - DEC 23, 2016
Bottle from Alcostock in Tallinn (€ 1.99). BB 02.05.2017. Pours clear, deep golden with a head that dissipates really fast. Aroma is pretty nice initially, strong caramel and malts, but gets a bit too boozy later on. Tastes less as attractive, cheapish, boozy, caramel most dominant, but it’s in a way quite attractive. Crisp carbonation, lightish medium body. Potential headache. Better than expected though. Film pairing: Jodorowsky’s ’Holy Mountain’.
