COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our first really strong ale brewed and the beginning of our entry into the Barleywine festivals such as is held at the Toronado pub in San Francisco annually every end of February. It was also our 500th batch of beer brew so we figured we were due to brew a strong beer like this by now. It was brewed on 8/30/99 and had an S. G. of 1.080 and a F.G. of 1.014 for and a.b.v. of 8.8%

On tap at the Lucky Lab in Portland. Colour...slightly cloudy amber-brown with no head. Nose...dates, golden raisins and dried cots with caramel tailings. Palate...delicately frothy and focused with a distinct lean towards the hoppy toffee side. There’s a bitter aspect that is beyond the hops and seems more oaky and somewhat sappy but it does not deter from the overall balance of this treat!

Aged and stored. From 2005 I think. Aroma of brown sugar and bitter hops. Reddish brown color. Flavor is a mix of christmas trees, sweet brown sugar, and sweet toasty malt. Obviously the hops have become a little subdued. Big, sweet, and damn drinkable. Pretty good stuff.
