12 oz single from "Lifesource" S.Salem. $1.75
typical near black ( mahogany hint) beer with a lovelly frothy, thick tan head.
Creamy ,oatlike aromas..rolled Scottish oats.,coffee slightly roasted.
Very nice bitter coffee and cocoa nib flavours..again a roastiness that is pleasing.
Great palate to this one the oats add even more substance to an already luxuriant mouthful.
Overall a very nice stout and not too strong. I can see me buying a six pack next time. DMLINAZ (332) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - MAY 24, 2013
Pours perfectly - black with a layer of tan foam that lasts. Aroma is stout, coffee, roasted malts, oatmeal, chocolate, very good. Flavor matches. Very drinkable, well balanced. Medium bodied, slightly thin. As it warms the flavor turns to dark fruit, cola. jazz88 (2676) - San Francisco, California, USA - DEC 17, 2002
Bottle. Black color with a diminished brown head. A wonderful sweet chocolate and roast aroma. The flavor is initially sweet and light, moves to coffee roast, and finishes with chocolate. hopdog (12382) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 10, 2006
12oz bottle. Poured a dark, dark black with an averaged sized dark tan head. Nice looking. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts, coffee and light oatmeal. Tastes of roasted malts, licorice, chocolate, and light coffee. Tastes were a little on the thin side (I guess I expected more after the aroma). Creamy and somewhat lively body. unclemattie (4358) - Georgia, USA - NOV 6, 2006
Bottle from IrishBoy. Black in color. Dark milk chocolate brown head. Expresso aroma. Alcohol, coffee, roasted barley flavors. A really great stout.

Courtesy of Quake1028 again, thanks John. It pours black with light brown mocha head. The aroma is roasty mixed with charred malts, licorice, mild smokiness and hints of malt sweetness. The taste is roasty, chocolate and oatmeal twang to start and becomes increasingly more charred. Midway another pulse of dark chocolate hits before being dragged into oblivion by the burnt malts. Very nice. scrawfis (143) - Naperville, Illinois, USA - OCT 19, 2003
Very dark, with a thick tannish head.
Aroma - Mixture of fresh and roasted malt.
Flavor - Rich chocolate malt with slight flavors of coffee. Very Good flavor, overall could be a little smoother. flutetokill (523) - Fresno, California, USA - APR 19, 2004
Opaque black color with a medium tan head. Sweet apple, malt, and roasted coffee aroma. Nice sweet malt, apple, roasted coffee and chocolate flavors. Feel is a little thin. Great flavor, though. HogTownHarry (6622) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - APR 18, 2006
Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy, his bottle, via trade with HopDog. Poured thick black, opaque, with a large light brown feathery head, nice lacing, beautiful "guiness" liveliness to the pour - top marks. Rich, nutty, oily overroast malty aroma, strong coffee and a cereal toastiness that I guess is the oatmeal ... there are even hops in here too! The flavour has a nice mild acidity and slightly curdled milk character added to it (that’s a plus, believe it or not), with some chocolate cherry and herbal hops in there too - the body is a tad watery, but it’s creamy, smooth, lightly carbonated and has a rich, satisfying creamy balanced finish that I appreciated. I imagine this would be kick-ass on cask when fresh - excellent sweet stout. Thanks for the share, P! (and I think this now puts me in the "Stouties* list for the first time - yay!! blankboy (7662) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 18, 2006
Bottle shared with HogTownHarry courtesy of hopdog. Pours a deep dark black with a large foamy lasting mocha head. Wonderful roasty and nutty aroma with some coffee, oatmeal and dark chocolate along for the ride. Flavour, oh yeah, that’s different and quite tasty: I agree with HogTownHarry, there’s a milky aspect to the flavour but in a good way along with chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and some hops for good measure. Creamy mouthfeel and goes down smooth but could be a little more full bodied. This was a brewery I never heard of and an ’extra’ from my trade with hopdog so I didn’t know what to expect but I must say, I am pleasantly surprised as this is a damn fine beer. Thanks hopdog!
