Draft at El Toro. Nose is chocolate, light berries, roast, and a hint of char. Black with a medium, long lasting,8 heavy lacing, cinnamon tan head. Flavor is chocolate, roast coffee, white pepperiness, and a hint of bitter. Actually named after a student of mine from 15 years ago who works at the brewpub. bhensonb (15088) - Woodland, California, USA - MAY 8, 2013
Tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown/black with a creamy dark tan head. Aroma is "dark" - almost berry. Full bodied. Creamy. Smooth. Hints of coffee. Lots of smooth burnt malt. Lots of something like dark fruit - tho not at all sweet. Finishes dryer than not with hints of chili (which is not an ingredient - I asked). It is fairly complex and quite tasty. bytemesis (8226) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - MAR 16, 2013
Tap. Pours opaque black with a large creamy brown head that slowly dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is roasty, coffee, touch of cocoa. Flavor is the same, light sweet, light bitterness, flavor profile a bit muted. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. Light warming on finish. Bitter far finish. brokensail (16432) - Dublin, California, USA - FEB 19, 2013
Black in color with a tan head. Roasted malt, coffee, and ash on the nose. Mild smoke, lots of dark fruit, brown sugar, licorice, and chocolate. On the sweet side of imperial stouts. The mouthfeel is a little thin, but decent flavor. Plenty of roasted malt, coffee, brown sugar, licorice, and chocolate. Some dark fruits, raisin, and hints of smoke.
