Amertume 3/5 Douceur 3/5

Black with thin creamy head. Aroma is quite floral. Flavour has some sweet liquorice at first. Pepper and roasted, bitter malts finish it off.

33cl bb11/2018 kindly shared by impuritylaw at the Post-Baltikum tasting Sep 2016, terviseks! - Smells of earthy, herbal, hard to define elements that could just as well be spent hops (or those vegetal experimental HBC hops, in retrospect) as black peppercorns. Subtly integrated flavours on the plus side, dry orange peel and a subcutaneous spice, a bit underdetermined and boring by the bottle-length probably.

Bitter taste with chocolate, peppers, a bit of coffee, roasted malts, hops and nuts. Bitter finish with peppers, chocolate and coffee. Very nice, smooth black IPA.

4th Aug 2016: shared 330ml bottle with minutemat. Brought home from Barcelona and the RBESG. Really enjoyed this ’Black Indian Pepper Ale’. Deep, dark brown body, red hue: beige topping. A malty and fruity nose is followed by a taste that is very similar in nature, dark, rich maltiness and dark berries but with a sprinkling of black pepper to add some spiciness. Very easy to drink and slightly different to most BIPA’s.
