UPDATED: OCT 26, 2017 Surprisingly sweet with vanila malts. This gives way to the peppery spice and hops as it warms up. Starts well but gets a bit too much at the end. Little too carbonated for the style.

Bottle 33cl. from Twentse Wijnhandel, @home poured into a shaker. Opaque ruby brown, small frothy tan head, mostly lasting, having lacing; aroma roasted malts, dark fruits, caramel, chocolate, licorice; taste light heavy to medium sweet and light bitter, roasted malts, chocolate, black berries, light spicy notes; sweetbitter aftertaste, licorice, spicy notes, bit woody; medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation; very nice BIPA, easy to drink.

Dark brown liquid with brown head. Aroma is roasty. Taste is roasted malt, pepper. Aftertaste is strong roast. Dry, almost no bitterness. It needs more sweetness and less roast. Roasty taste dominates too much. Pepper is interesting but it doesn’t save the beer. No, it’s not black IPA.

GSAP (757) - NETHERLANDS - JUN 29, 2017

MarcoBasile (467) - DENMARK - JUN 11, 2017
Pours very deep deep dark brown body with a tan bubbly head. The aroma is subdued grassy, grapefruity hops with some suntle roasty malty notes. Some tea leaf notes. Taste has a sweetness from both malts and fruits right at first sip. The malts seems to take over from there. The aftertaste is sweet licorice. It’s like a watery hoppy stout more than a black IPA, because of the roasty malts being dominant.

Amertume 3/5 Douceur 3/5
