EBF 2017 (cask). Pours a clear copper/amber with no real head (from a cask so it’s OK) and thus no lacing. Nose is of syrup, maple syrup, treacle. Just syrupy and sweet. Taste is of caramel almost exclusively and very lightly bitter. Quite boozy as well. Might be the definition of swill. Feels like a barleywine gone wrong. Full body and no carbonation. Sticky. from cask at EBF 2017, boston. cloudy dark amber pour with a thin light beige cap offering minimal retention and lacing. lots of caramel maltiness, some brown nuttiness, spicy red fruits, piney, clean yeast action i guess. moderately low carbonation, light body - very oily and feels rather heavy; assertively unbalanced spicy-piney finish. dull, caramel-ish and piney. ugh. A hazed dark amber Barley Wine with a thin light mocha head. In aroma, beautiful sweet fruity caramel malt with light vinous notes, treacle, light vanilla, alcohol warmth, very nice and smooth. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity caramel malt with light grassy floral hops, resinous and smooth, vinous character, alcohol warmth, very nice for its age. Bottled on March 4, 2011. 750 ml bottle purchased at Table and Vine, West Spring field. Bottled on 10 March 2014. Amber orange in color without head. Aroma is earthy malts, (like dried leaves), toffee, weak dark fruit and alcohol.

Flavor has dark fruit through the center with a sticky / syrupy texture. The maple syrup just comes off as sugar. Booze is still pretty obvious giving a warm sensation after the swallow. Body is medium with the carbonation starting to slip away.
Bottle pour into tulip glass. Born on date 3/14. Aroma is strong caramel, hints of alcohol. Appearance is brownish like apple cider with no real head to speak of and a little bit of transient lacing. Taste is sweet malty caramel bready/toast which mellowed with breathing--initially had a burn like isopropyl alcohol (I think this was too old). Palate medium bodied with average to thick texture with soft carbonation. Long caramel sweet alcohol finish. Overall, I think this aged too long so probably not a true reflection.

Pours mahogany into a tulip. Conglomerate pancake head with good retention recedes leaving spider lacing to coat surface. Chocolate and pumpernickel aromas. Thick and boozy with sweet maple and toasted bread upfront turning to chocolate milk before the lasting resin finish.
