From a bomber. Pours a dark brown and makes a like brown medium head.m, which dissipates quickly. Aroma is of raisin, plum, alcohol, and malt. Taste of dark fruits, yeast, and big malt. Hints of chocolate, too. A very good quad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a bottle. Very deep velvety red color, almost purple. Smell is based around bourbon with some tartness from dark fruit catching for me. Taste is crisp with cherry and grape notes. Feel is pretty smooth with light carbonation and a noticeable alcohol heat on the finish. Overall solid quad. Flavor improves as the beer warms.

Deep dark amber/mahogany with a very thin off white head. Stupid aroma of raisins and bourbon and brown sugar and vanilla and plums. Smooth flavor with a huge palate of boozy raisin/plum tones with some Belgian dark malts, bourbon, vanilla and oak, Finishing with some sweet dark fruitiness and a little more bourbon. Amaze balls.

Bottle. Pours a medium brown with garnet highlights and a shallow, off-white, creamy fine-grained head. Nose is vanilla, caramel, bourbon, toffee, chocolate, and fig -- incredibly appetizing if you’re into the sweet stuff. Smooth and sweet on the palate; there’s more fruit (I definitely get the black cherry), toffee, vanilla, and a decent amount of bourbon booziness. It’s not too heavy, but it’s definitely got some heft to it. Finish is a little hot; I also just want more body on the mouthfeel, it’s a little thin. That said, it’s pretty damned good.

Draft at Big Wood 2014. Amazingly dry for a quad. Coconut and sunscreen (Hawaiian tropic). Dark fruit and dry oak. Pretty fall ruby pour. Boozy.

mcberko (18557) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 8, 2014
On tap at Brouwer’s Cafe for Big Wood 2014, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma is huge on the bourbon barrels, with loads of booze, followed by brown sugar and dark fruits. Flavour is very rich and complex, with bourbon barrels, vanilla, brown sugar, dark fruits, green apple and caramel. Very elegant and balanced - the barrels, though overtaking on the nose - don’t dominate too much, but rather accentuate the base beer. Excellent quad.

luttonm (6634) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 6, 2014
Draft at Big Wood 2014 at Brouwer’s. Heavy black-brown ruby, small ring. Slight alc aroma, dark cherry. Full round fruit, some coconut, alc. Barrel fruit, odd somehow but no big flaws.
