On tap at Brouwer’s Cafe for Big Wood 2014, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma is huge on the bourbon barrels, with loads of booze, followed by brown sugar and dark fruits. Flavour is very rich and complex, with bourbon barrels, vanilla, brown sugar, dark fruits, green apple and caramel. Very elegant and balanced - the barrels, though overtaking on the nose - don’t dominate too much, but rather accentuate the base beer. Excellent quad. Draft - Sweet sugars and lots of plum. Deep maroon with a small beige head. Green apple and plum, slight wood and sweet barrel notes. Nice and light for what it is. djd07 (15067) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUN 30, 2016
Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is pure sugar, dark fruit, vanilla, wood. Medium body, similar flavors to nose, nice bourbon, very good. Ratman197 (14952) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - AUG 14, 2013
750 ml corked and caged bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a small lasting creamy tan head. Aromas of bourbon, toffee, vanilla, cherry, plum, oak and candi sugar. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of bourbon, dark fruit, toffee, candi sugar, light oak and light vanilla with a smooth lingering fruity finish. cubs (10640) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - FEB 27, 2016
Spring 2013 bottle @ home, via my rot box. Pours a murky reddish brown appearance with a medium sized brown head. The aroma has mild whiskey, caramel, chocolate covered bananas, pears, apples, vanilla, oak, and some booze. Body is a little thin. A little bit of tartness which is a little weird. Mild booze, lots of fruit (pear, berry, apple), caramel, and tiramisu in the flavor. Pretty unique with a lot of fruit but all too thin. Ok.

Deep dark amber/mahogany with a very thin off white head. Stupid aroma of raisins and bourbon and brown sugar and vanilla and plums. Smooth flavor with a huge palate of boozy raisin/plum tones with some Belgian dark malts, bourbon, vanilla and oak, Finishing with some sweet dark fruitiness and a little more bourbon. Amaze balls. arminjewell (9688) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - MAY 30, 2013
Pour out of 750 mL bottle #594, batch 1. Thick black pour with creamy off white, eggshell head, laces very well. Aroma brought notes of dark fruits, slight caramel, toffee, some dark candi sugar, lots of oak, bourbon, sour whiskey notes, pretty laced with hints of honey as well. Taste is much better, nice mix of oak, bourbon, nice honey, vanilla, hints of fig, plum, touch of raisin, mixing into touch of caramel, dark sugars, finishing with some sweetness, hints of oak, drying out a bit. Pretty nicely done, a bit hot but not at all bad for 11.1%. Strykzone (7422) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - MAR 13, 2014
Sampled at ESBLS. Dark brown with a creamy beige head that does not fall. This beer is fruity and pleasant, especially for the ABV. Creamy and malty with all kinds of fruit. Dark fruit, plums. Interesting wood. A little heat but just a little. Amazingly easy to drink. Iphonephan (7012) - Jackson Hole/McLean, Virginia, USA - JUL 24, 2013
